It's a marketing thing. Unified memory is same as shared memory, but the word sounds cooler. Apple used to crap on "shared memory" back in the PowerPC days. For Ai slop, you really do want shared / unified memory so you can reallocate as your needs change.

Your edit on this post totally transformed my perception of you from clueless noob to tinkering menace. LOL. Sounds like you unwittingly corrupted your own library. Aperture had some repair abilities, but you can't buy it anymore and it's probably easier to pull originals and import them into new library.

None of the LLMs are open source because the source is technically the training data and that data is proprietary, partly because it contains copyrighted content. People like Mark Zuckerberg know that most people don't know what open source actually means. Influencers are mostly ignorant, too. It's all part of the plan to make these companies and projects appear more transparent than they are.
This subreddit is full of accounts unwittingly perpetuating the open source label and deceiving each other about what it actually means.
Your mind sounds like a shit place to live. I'm sorry that wearing t shirt and jeans once in a while seems like murder to you. Clearly someone hurt you.
