Definitely road cyclists. Generally speaking road cyclists understand that roads are used for transportation as well as recreation. Most sensible roadies get that someone on an ebike might just be going to work or get groceries.
Contrast this to mountain biking where it’s a purely recreational activity. This is where I feel like a lot of the “cheating” arguments come in. As well as some legitimate arguments against adding motorized travel to a trail.
Officially, road use is accepted/allowed more often.
Who cares? Us ebike owners just have to learn to laugh at people that make an issue out of what we are riding (unless we are riding unsafely, which I assume none of you are).
When snowboards first became popular, skiers hated them and complained. Now they are just accepted. Ebikes will be too. I think to a large degree that is already happening.
Hahaha man spend some time on the MTBR forums and there is a whole lot of ebike hate (at least from behind the keyboard) but I’ve never witnessed it in person (on my traditional MTB) I haven’t had any issues on the road on my ebike.
Option C: the commuting community
Accepting...neither. But you don't see no ebikes signs on roads as much as you see them on mtb trails.
Easily road. Mtb riders around here go rabid when emtb is even mentioned!
eRoad bikes piss off roadies on their pedal bikes, and eMTB piss them off as well. As for car drives and pedestrians, both piss them off as well, as well as small babies and children, some pets too.
Enikers are our own entity. Who cares what MBs or RBs think...
Most people don't give a hoot as long as you're respectful of the speed limits, the trail/road, and each other. The majority of people on bikes have things to do - someplace to be, or just enjoying the scenery - they just want to go about their day and mind their business.
But there are always buttholes. Just ignore them. Don't let them convert you into a butthole by generalizing that all ___ are buttholes (like they're doing with eBikes).
