[Shadowlands] Think outside the box, where there's a will...

So I've been stuck on Shadowlands lvl 10 now for the past week with my options being Villains wave, Loki boss, and Ultrons rumble.

This is the furthest I've gotten in SL so the best of my roster is used up at this point, but I need these bios to continue my epic quest.

All week I've been throwing all kinds of team combinations at the loki boss because my villains are kind of crappy, which the other two modes require (and I've gotten instantly destroyed when I tried).

I realized my 56/6/6 Ancient One (that I used my SL first clear rank ups on) can last forever but just doesn't have the dps. She's essentially Groot+++. I waste like four days trying to match ancient one with the highest DPSers I have left to no avail, when a brilliant idea strikes me (in the bathroom of course).

I march on over to the Ultron rumble lag fest (requires uni villains). I put my own mediocre Ultron as +attack lead, a mediocre 55/5/1 Supergiant... and the Ancient one.

I destroyed them in two tries. I basically switched to the Ancient one right away and started dropping heal bubbles all over the level dealing ONES of damage (and some attack locking) while my teammates get continuously healed and are openly carrying the slap fest for me. It kind of reminded me of my healer days in WoW.

It stands to say that the Ancient one has made a believer out of me.

I know so far this kind of one big gloat, but now I want to know other "tricks" you guys have used to get by in SL?

Tldr: used Ancient one in the uni villains Ultron rumble to deal no damage but to heal my AI teammates. Any other SL tricks?

That's awesome! Makes me want to build Ancient One ASAP. As far as other "tricks," I heard that both Satana and Strange can decrease (or remove) the floor buff that enemies get, meaning that Satana's fire attacks still work on stages where enemies are immune to fire, and Strange could say complete a female relay. Another thing I do is always pair Ant-man with Yellowjacket on floors that require villains because Ant-man's long iframe gives YJ a chance to tag out and heal. Even if the enemy has physical reflect, it doesn't matter because Ant-man is only doing one damage anyway. Last trick would be using the gender and side neutral Destroyer for floors that don't fit his type, because the buffs are usually something like "Decrease damage by 100% from MALES," and not "Only take damage from FEMALES"

Thank you. This was great advice. I can usually clear level 5 of Shadow land with Loki, but this week, I didn't get a combat option on level 4 to use my Sharon or Songbird and had to use Loki there. I got stuck banging my head for days against the New Avengers rumble with that ridiculous physical reflection. I took my 3* Strange into the universal relay, froze the opponents, then used the debuff canceling skill, switched to Sharon and wiped the floor with them. Amazing

I hope so. It's really frustrating, especially so early in shadow land. It's enough challenge to have to clear all 5 New Avengers without the physical reflection. I kept getting all the way to the Wiccan boss by using Sharon's energy-only attacks, but Wiccan consistently destroyed me.

Wiccan has energy reflection, btw. You need to swap to physical skills vs him.

Oh, I see. That would explain why Wicann kept killing me. Am I missing where it says that Hulkling has physical reflection and Wiccan has energy reflection or are those just built-in skills? I don't have either ranked up. Until I read about the reflection in a post on here, I didn't know why I kept dying.

My 3-star Dr. Strange kept the rumble entirely locked I. Place while Iron Man and War Machine destroyed everything in there. My kid's 2-star level 30 Dr. Strange did the same. So, that's useful.

Strange was great as well as a support CC character. He was, I believe, 4 stars at the time. I was stuck on floor 8 with 3 nasty rumbles, all of which I had trouble doing even with (certain) t2s, mostly because there was a energy damage reflector on all of them. In the end threw ultron (L), GG, and strange at the villians rumble. Manually controlled CC to stunlock all 3 enemies for most of the time (2nd skill and 3rd skill), and at least 2nd skill to debuff the energy reflector (lash boss). Took only a few tries when I had previously spent many many many many tries trying to beat any of those 3 rumbles.

Strange is like a get out of jail card on SL floors. (Also for the debuff that allows you to use any character)

Heh, I myself just discovered the glory of the Ancient One as a World Boss striker. +10% damage to villains, strikes on attack, and actually drops heal bubbles*... the ultimate wingman! Bought a mega rankup for Clea but ultimately changed my mind in favor of TAO, and I have zero regrets.

* I'm not 100% sure about the heal, as it caught me off guard and I couldn't get it to drop twice or retry for more testing. Can anyone confirm?

I've found AO drops the debuff ring when striking more often than not in WB. But yeah, will occasionally drop the healing ring.

I might be way-off target but I seem to remember someone saying that it depends on who is actually leading your team as to what skills the striker uses.

That's true - the composition of the team determines the use of skills during the co-op attack and what the striker uses. Like, Thanos (lead) with Lincoln and Thor always uses Thanos's 6-star attack for the co-op. Ronan lead with Nebula and Prox gives me - most often - Proxima's 6-star attack during the co-ops. I don't know the others, either.

This only determines what skills your teammates (the two characters in your team) use while doing team-up attack, but that still doesn't tell what your five WB strikers do.

She's clearly the standout of the new kids, with the obvious exception of Strange. Clea seems to be disappointing everyone who ranked her, haven't heard much from Daimon yet, but I have some experience with Satana. I like Satana, but she's going to take some work in order to shine.

Surprised to see you around, most of the old guard is long gone from the sub, but probably lurking occasionally just like me. Glad you're still enjoying the game, though!

Thanks! I actually did play it pretty casually at some points. I think I went a few days without even logging in, but on most days I would just log in, collect daily rewards, put my phone on auto running special stages and call it a day. No AB, no WB, no timeline. Now, I'm back to doing everything and enjoying myself. I have seen a lot of confusion for new players coming to the game, so I think I might be using my experience to actually shoot a video guide for newer players soon.

That's not a bad idea at all. The problem with missing the old guard is how easily misinformation spreads around the sub, so the more experience around here the better. The game has become so complicated and specific that it's almost impossible to give advice without knowing people's cards/roster/budget/progress... so most of my FF talk is with my Alliance. Helping get them up and running is probably the only thing that's kept me going through the worst of 2.0, and I'm so glad I stuck it out because (excepting the gold shortage and some other issues) FF is in a better place than ever. And now my Alliance is at level 23.95, from 17 when I took over ;-)

Positioning helps in rumbles. I use deathlock Black panther and venom, none of them maxed for the 2nd level speed rumble. I kept getting trashed until I used venom on the far right by mistake, and watched as I cleared it on the first try

good job, I don't really have tips for first 10 levels (most of the ticks are on the last 5 stages like: Lincoln can clear 24 or A-team on 21) except maybe try different combinations in first 5 levels like BP and White Tiger with good leadership are quite useful with the i-frames on first one and the shield of the second.

Other teams that worked for me: (keep in mind that all those are not maxed gear and like 2* ISO set, the first 8 piece one they got)

Hulk / Cho / GM in first lvl;

Spidy / Black Cat / Yondu in blast relay;

DocOc uni / Blade / Venom in speed rumble

MODOC / Rocket / IronMan in combat relay

Giant Man is a waste on the first level. If his gears are maxed, he's amazing on higher levels - I've used him most often on a Boss Loki stage 10 or, this week, a Winter Soldier relay on stage 11. On stage 1, I use a maxed Doc Ock (no uni), Hulking, and a 55/5/5 White Tiger and clear it pretty easily. I don't have great physical attack cards (a bonus in the teens), so it's quick switching for me.

When I started the game and find out that in this game GM is way stronger than Hulk I was so disappointed that started hating GM and he was one of the last characters to reach 6* and get mastery in my roster he, Drax and Bullseye are last without uniforms. Basically I still don't like him and I invest nothing in him

I thought I was going to be stuck on floor 8 this week, since I've used most of my best character in the previous floors (since I don't have a deep roster)

Was left w/ Satana, T2 SR and YJ (6/6/60 w/ 17 gears). and at floor 8 I was left with a heroes/male relay, spidey relay, and Ironman relay.

tried yesterday w/ satana (6/6/60 17 gears SB iso set and ITGB + fire damage 5* OB w/ one time damage buff 110%) got rekt.

Rolled a pretty decent 6* OB today (double fire damage + heal under 50% for 10%). immediately equipped it on satana and changed her ISO set to PoaH.

Satana solo'd the spidey relay floor, between the clutch healing of both my OB and passive, plus satana locking them down w/ CCs on her 5* and her iframe 2* plus the awesome damage of her 6*.

at first I was dissapointed I chose her over Clea, now I feel sorry I doubted her in the first place lol.

floor 9 and 10 was a cakewalk after that, YJ solo'd destroyer level 9 and T2 SR solod (w/ the help of 3* Strange CCs) the hulk rumble. first time I finished a floor 10. and to think I just got to floor 5 last reset lol.

Was stuck on level 15 with those bios and rank 6 BAM in my sight. Simple trick, I waited for the 10% physical attack bonus from BD WB to help T1 Carnage. Cleared stage 15 Destroyer boss like a boss.

Maximum levels should be played on Infinity days to use the sweet 10% all attack bonus. It's a game changer and really helps out. My Carnage was ranked up after that, so played at his type strength. :)

I have been taking advantage of iT day's and PM day's WB clear bonuses (all speed +10% is the best of the week, IMO) for 4 or 5 weeks now. But I don't think this "trick" is too "far from the box", if it is "outside" :)

For the Ronan level (I think stage 5) with Ghost Rider and Thor. I use jane thor as lead (for lightning resist), with thor and Angela, use the thors for GR, Angela for Thor and keep switch healing, then whoever's left for Ronan.

CC is great. The first or second week, struggling to reach floor 5, I added Silk to a rumble when she only did one damage- her locking down half the fight helped pull off a win I couldn't otherwise pull off.

I would encourage this kind of thinking too.

I was stuck a couple of weeks ago on lvl 22 which required pure energy because reflect physical and was hitting a road block. I had 60 Prox and she kept getting pounded, but she was really the only pure energy I had left, I had a few that could do energy/energy damage, but that wasn't cutting it.

Thus I thought outside the box, because it wasn't a dps issue, but I was just taking a ton of damage. It took me a few days, but I put Blade as lead, and that pulled me through. It took a few tries, but afterwards, but it worked. Now, with 2 full runs after that, this is my go to combination on lvl 22.

edit: might have been lvl 23. but the plan doesn't change.

If i ever have to do rumbles like floor 2, i tend to use 3 summoners like ultron, red skull and grimm/kingpin/coulson. Pretty much the enemies are overwhelmed/flinch locked by the sheer number of attackers on screen.

Another not mentioned here is to construct when attacking strikers in mind for my main attacker for relays, especially those that cam debuff/cc.

First time I cleared the first floor was because of this. Hulkbuster lead with Groot to heal (F2P, no tag-heal) and was trying different thirds with no luck. Then level 40 Hulk came along with his team-up bonus, team-up attack and striking.

For loki boss my GwenPool T2 or YJ T2 can take him with no problem. maybe invest in one of them.
