Gremlin is king of his domain.

Gremlin is a fierce defender of his realm. To my surprise, for the first time ever, he did not pancake and hiss when I reached in to change his water bowl today. Even when I picked him up and took him out, he was calm and sweet: not like himself at all. He explored my hands and my clothes and the scarf I had on my bed, and when I put him back in his enclosure he went in calmly and sat under his basking light, instead of immediately disappearing.
