[GSL Spoilers] Does anyone else think this should be the last GSL season that players choose their own groups?

The "group of champions" may be an entertaining idea at first but MC going to the up downs because he lost to MVP and a sneaky all in?

No, this would be way to chaotic to organize. It seems fine the way it is.

They already have the GSL point system based on how they placed they could just use that to seed each player 1-32 and then put bottom seed against top seed like they do in other professional sports. This way you get the best finals possible.

Current system lets them show some of the player's personalities and instill a bit of drama. It also acts as a reward to the top players from last season for getting to pick who to play.

I think in order to get the best finals they should consider having a double elimination.

No... Its part of the privilege for being so good last season, He picked his group essentially, meaning he understood the risks of going to Up/Down, and he did, It's VERY unlikely he'll go to code a though.

Someone in another thread made a good point:

This was the smartest decision MC could've made. Either he gets the strongest players out of the way immediately so he could have an easier time, or he gets free time to travel to foreign tournaments.

It has nothing to do with that. He already said that he is going to cut back the foreign tournaments because he felt that he falling behind the other Korean players due to lack of practice. I doubt very much he wants to go to the up and down matches either, he could get 1-1-1ed out of Code S. He just was overconfident, he wanted to surpass MVP in GSL points and he failed pretty badly.

He might go to MLG because it would give him a 2nd chance to keep his GSL code S spot but I think that would be it.

That would be a good idea if it was for a BO3, but in a BO1 there is so much unpredictability. Doing a BO1 against someone like MVP is deadly especially when we have seen how well he can all-in/macro/contain. It was definately not "the smartest decision." Would you risk losing your Code S spot on a BO1?

MC to Raleigh, please. Thanks SK =)

No, because there should be a benefit for doing good in the last GSL. Most of the time those 8 people will choose the weakest Code S players. I love MC, but he took a risk of picking MVP and it didn't go well this time.

Group choosing was designed to give players like MC easier time since they could simply choose bad/easy opponents...
