Calc420 got a visual refresh. Same math, more tools, still 100% free.

Hey Reddit - I'm the person behind Calc420 (https://calc420.com).

A while back I posted about building it after Scientific Edibles went offline. I just spent a stretch making the site actually feel like a 2026 tool instead of a pile of calculators in a 2022 green template - and I added a bunch of things people kept asking for.

WHY I'M POSTING THIS

People actually use this thing to dose homemade edibles. If the UI is confusing, people guess — and guessing mg is how you have a bad night.

So the refresh is visual only: same formulas, same client-side calculator, same shareable recipe links. Just easier to read, easier to scan the result.

WHAT CHANGED VISUALLY

The whole site now shares one look:

- Colors

- Results that actually show the dose - charts next to the mg numbers, not just a wall of text

- Cleaner inputs

If you used it last year, the calculator is in the same place. It just doesn't look like a school project anymore.

WHAT'S NEW ON THE SITE

The original tools are still there:

Edible Dosage Calculator - https://calc420.com/

Magic Mushroom / Truffle Dosage - https://calc420.com/shrooms.html

Yield / Grow Light Calculator - https://calc420.com/yield.html

New calculators people asked for:

AVB / already-vaped bud - leftover THC from how dark the AVB is

https://calc420.com/avb-calculator.html

Edible onset & duration - when it kicks in / peaks / fades (gummies, baked, tincture, drinks)

https://calc420.com/edible-onset-calculator.html

THC gummy dosage - target mg per gummy → how much flower you need

https://calc420.com/gummy-dosage-calculator.html

Also: tincture, flower-to-oil ratio, RSO, CBD-only, THC mg↔%, grow-room electricity / cost per gram, plus the decarb and cannabutter-ratio tools.

A few practical guides too (labeling homemade edibles, storing cannabutter, what to do with dab reclaim, etc.).

WHAT DIDN'T CHANGE

- 100% in your browser. Inputs aren't sent to a server to calculate.

- Shareable recipe links via URL (bookmark or send a friend the exact setup).

- English + Spanish, German, Italian, French, Portuguese.

- No signup. No paywall. No ads.

If something feels off or something’s missing, there’s a feedback form in the nav - or just shoot me a DM. Criticism in the comments is totally welcome, but if you just comment without giving any useful feedback, it doesn’t really help. That’s the whole point of posting this: people here actually build this stuff, and I’d rather build something you’ll use than guess what you want.

Nobody cares about your slop app

Over_Teach850 [OP]

except about those who do!

Gothicawakening

AI slop, as usual, full of mistakes.

Over_Teach850 [OP]

Yeah? It’s been free for over a year, no signup, and a few thousand people a month actually use it to dose edibles. I built it because the old calculator disappeared. Using modern tools to ship something useful isn’t the crime. Writing every CSS file by hand like it’s 2010 wouldn’t make the mg math more honest.

besides, If the calculator’s wrong, tell me. “AI” isn’t a bug report.

ItsOKtoFuckingSwear

Ugh AI

If you don't care enough to the point you ask an AI to create anything at all then why should users care enough to report issues that the AI made?

TheInterruptingCow94

Especially when AI has been well known to make frivolous mistakes. I'd be upset if I replied on an app to "properly dose me" only for me to end up greened out.

beepgie

yeah trusting an obviously vibecoded website for drug dosage information is batshit to me, imagine a newcomer eating 200mg cause a chatbot wrote the formula wrong.

Over_Teach850 [OP]

Bro again, the calculations ARE NOT made by AI. It's the exact same math that was used in scientificedibles. I copied the code from the webarchive. extrapolated the calculations.

it doesn’t really matter if the calculations themselves aren’t AI if everyone already automatically assumes they are, the vibecoded ui is incredibly sketchy looking, sorta the 2020s equivalent of a website covered in pop up ads

Over_Teach850 [OP]

... I don't understand what IS sketchy on my website? can you point out some things?????

beepgie

its the tropes chatgpt nearly always falls into when trying to do anything web design wise, constant use of rounded edges, always using tinted white / black, AI written text and insistence on awkwardly centering everything. take a look at some piracy or seo sites from the last few years, they all have the exact same style of web design as your website

Over_Teach850 [OP]

the calculations ARE NOT made by AI. Only the ui. DUH???

kreotropic

Hey! Just visited it and s selected Portuguese but almost everything is in Spanish... No problem with English only...

Atomsk666

This is really helpful, I have a similar tool done in Excel, but this is much more useful. Thank you. I will be using this for my next recipes. Don't listen to people complaining it is AI, however you built it, this is awesome, AI is here to make it easier to code things like this page.

Over_Teach850 [OP]

Thank you! i've posted since 2025 here but people say it's AI only right now that they know it is possible...

joanzen

I mean you could point an AI agent at it and ask it to make a Google Docs Worksheet out of the website, you'd still get all the math, and it wouldn't look too bad.

But then nobody has to host it, it's free, and who'd take credit? :D

Over_Teach850 [OP]

wouldn't you prefer using google to search for things instead of DIY?
Well guys if you don't like it i understand 1 year ago (https://www.reddit.com/r/trees/comments/1lqnroa/i\_built\_a\_free\_cannabutteredibles\_dosage/) you guys told me it was amazing now after some posts you don't like it anymore and i don't understand why.

ipaporn

Hi friend, I think the backlash is because a lot of folks are strongly against any sort of AI — Reddit users especially. Not trying to get into an argument about whether that's fair, but I think that's why people have turned sour on your website.

I really appreciate that you've put together this calculator, but I also know that AI companies are using up a lot of our planet's resources... It's tough! ☮️

Over_Teach850 [OP]

thank you for your feedback. I was just trying to help people!

I'm vegetarian, i think that my water-usage is being offset by that hahaha!

joanzen

I've done a few worksheets. You are right, they never get indexed on Google even when they are popular but that's the only downside.
