Thoughts on 2024 S60 B5 Plus AWD

Looking at a low milage 2024 Volvo S60 B5 Plus AWD. Seems to have all of the bells and whistles. Looking to trade in my 2022 Genesis G70 SP (Sport Prestige). My biggest gripe with Genesis are the dealerships and the beautiful but horrendously uncomfortable seats.

How have your S60's been for you?

I have that exact model, it was a dealer loaner. They gave me a great deal after my XC90 was totaled. No complaints, it’s swift and powerful. I’m not convinced I personally want a sedan for very long, but that’s a comment on my personal preference not on the car. My fiancé is a sports car guy and really happy driving my sedan FWIW

Granted, it’s just over 10k miles at the moment so I haven’t had it long enough to know it’s reliability (I’ve put 5k of those on since end of November )

I'll be driving one this weekend and comparing! Excited to do it

You are going to love the seats.

People compare the S60 to the G70, 330, and A4.

Plus is the best bang for your buck trim.

Takes premium.

S60 has been great; I can't recommend them enough.

I've heard Volvo seats are among the best in the business, so that's good news. Found a bargain loaded 2022 A4, though. I'd actually lower my payments with simply a trade in... that might be hard to beat. Lol

I have had two S60s, a 2001 and a 2019, I like the car a lot. Super comfortable seats, which were maybe one of my top criteria when shopping for a car. The Genesis is a cool car, but I think you will find that overall, the Volvo materials are simple yet very high quality. Can't speak for every dealer, but where I am in New England, I have had great experiences at almost all dealerships I have been to over the years.

I'm not a fan of the seats on the SPA platform. They are ok, but, in my opinion, nowhere as good as the sport seats in 1st gen S60 and F30 3 Series I owned before. But the seats are extremely personal thing, so you'll only know once you test drive it.

AAOS infotainment is terrible - slow to respond, frequent minor bugs. Current BMW systems seem ages ahead in comparison to this. VAG MIB3 is disliked by the community due to its instability, but I've had a Skoda with it for 10 months, and even it felt much better than AAOS.

Driver assists are too sensitive, and while you can turn lane assist off, auto-braking and blind spot indicators are always on. I had a false positive engagement of BLIS once, it prevented me from merging to a completely empty motorway by violently pulling the car back to the slip road. My dealer has re-calibrated the BLIS sensors, and it has not happened again yet, but this one time was kinda scary.

Other than that, my 2024 V60 has been a solid, efficient and comfortable, if quite boring to drive, daily car. But if I was given a chance to go back again to a point of making a choice, I'd go for a G21 this time.

All good points. I think one frustrating thing about BMW is they pretty much have zero driver's assistance on the 3 series. I don't need a bigger car, and you just can't get the options with them. I've heard different excuses. I think you can with the M3, but I don't want / want to pay for an M3. I have a truck, so I don't need an SUV.

Looking at an A4, A5, S60, and IS300 this week. Interesting that Lexus resale is so expensive. I guess they hold their value quite well.
