If it makes you feel any better I think I heard that arch digest and mtv cribs are both a bit fake. There was a vid floating around on YouTube that showed that a lot of these arch digest houses are listed soon after (if I remember correctly?) and the vids are kinda used as adverts. A lot of the MTV cribs houses were rented just for the show.
