This bothered me the whole time I was reading. Most kids are walking by two. I’m not sure why you think learning to crawl at that age is normal. Maybe she had an undisclosed illness or maybe a birth defect. There is an endless list of things it could be. It is just a little odd they would mention learning to crawl and not disclose it. It clearly changes nothing that happened though so I guess it really doesn’t matter. I hope she crawled into a happy place.

Well the mother said the daughter wanted to hear her called by her nickname, which is what she called her. I understand that it is a little thing, but I think it was important. And I’m not suggesting that she has to forgive her mother for things that happened in the past, but in the grand scheme of things, what she went through was not that horrible. We can turn on the news or spend one and a half seconds on the internet to see just how awful mothers can be and gain some perspective on our own relationships. I just would not want to see my family suffer if I could help it.

But you’re right, if the mother is just holding out for an apology from the daughter to bring the rest of her family happiness (ie showing up for them), that is also a pretty spiteful and vicious thing to do. So I do understand your stance on the matter. And obviously the mother can blamed for what she is putting her family through instead of the daughter.

In relation to my mother, I should have been clearer. She was overwhelmed and learning how to parent, just like we all do when we have kids. She unfortunately had a difficult life growing up and did not realize until much later that there was another way to parent. It really took her getting out of the kind of rural communities she grew up in and meeting others and seeing how they were treated and how they treated their kids. And if I’m being honest, my sister and I certainly were not easy to parent. But she did learn, and change, and soften. She did regret the things she did wrong when we were young. She really was like a different person and we appreciated who she became. And it is awful that a lot of people do not get that experience and it is really sad. Because nothing can replace a mother’s love. Though I do wish things were different when I was little, I am glad I got to have her as she was when I got older.

I would just like to say to the young adults, sometimes we misunderstand our parents completely. And that they can change. And that we often do not understand until we become parents ourselves. Unfortunately, that is often too late for many relationships. I did not get along with my mother really until my 30s. But I learned a lot from life and let go of a lot of the things I blamed her for. Life is hard for most of us and we’re doing the best we can, our parents included. I also understand there are some things that are unforgivable so I’m not speaking to those people. There are absolutely times when someone is used and abused to the point that no contact is absolutely the right choice. But for those of us that just had a difficult situation, sometimes forgiveness opens the door to something you will cherish. I forgave my mother long before she passed. And I happily cared for her for nine years because I wanted to. And I have no regrets about that!

If you are in a situation where you have had to cut your mother off and have no relationship with them, you have my sympathy and I’d love to offer you a hug from this stranger/internet mom.

It is so strange to see so many people so completely deluded and have no idea whatsoever. You guys just keep repeating the bs as you’re told to and ignore all facts and evidence that might challenge your feeble minds. Keep making up those alternative facts so that you can all live in a (brothers Grimm) fairytale that has no basis in reality. But at least you’ll never have to admit you’re wrong which I am convinced is the actual issue with many of you. You simply cannot consider the fact that you might be wrong and are incapable of admitting it. It must be hard to exist with such fragile egos and tenuous, weak identities.

So you made that statement as if most of the negative posts about trump aren’t made by Americans. There are plenty of us that bailey loathe the degenerate grifter and cannot wait for him to be stripped of power. There are millions of us that have repeatedly tried to keep this from happening. There are millions that are apathetic in the last election because we did not feel like we were given a choice in who would run against him. And to be completely honest, there were a great deal of people that did not have confidence in the only option we were given. I think a lot of people just avoided the election altogether as they did not feel like there was anyone deserving of their vote on the ballot. And I completely get that way of thinking. The problem Is, those were the choices we had and one of them was going to be elected so at some point it really is about choosing the lesser of two evils. (Not to say Kamala was evil, I just do not think she was ready. She could still very well be the first female president at some point but the way everything played out in 2024 was a train wreck and she was not ready) We HAVE to fight against this corrupt, inept, childish, and wildly feckless group of corrupt grifters that are holding onto power with everything they’ve got. I’m usually ok just going with the assumption that commenters are taking into account that it is not the whole of the US population are not included in statements such as yours but the above comment really makes it seem like all US citizens are morons and that obviously couldn’t be further from the truth. We have some of the brightest, most ambitious and gifted minds on the planet. Unfortunately our culture also spawns some of the greediest, most self serving loathsome excuses for humans the world has to offer as well. The wealth inequality, nepo baby/family power transfers, and elected officials being handed gross amounts of power simply because of who they know and their clear willingness to support someone no matter how abhorrent their character happens to be is ruining this country. This admin IS the SWAMP, the sewage that needs to be deposed so that they can be replaced with the innovative minds that want to see our country prosper WITH the rest of the civilized world.

I think they would just not believe anything they heard. Especially from western media. They already do not trust our news sources so I don’t really think that would make a difference to them. It’s not like news anchors are literally going to say Allah does not exist.

Her funeral on September 18, 2024. Before that was the early morning of September 13, around 5am. My father, sister and myself had been taking shifts sitting with her. At some point during the night her breathing got quieter. Then a few minutes after I switched with my dad, I realized she was no longer breathing. I miss her every single day. I had devoted my entire life to caring for her for seven and a half years. I feel lost and without purpose since she’s gone. I’d give anything to hug her once more. I didn’t do it nearly enough when she was here.

We don’t have them around here anymore. When they initially opened them, they were staffed with employees separate from the restaurants. We wore a uniform of what we called parachute pants, bright shiny material in different colors and colorful polo shirts. We had to play with the kids, a certain number of games an hour. And we had to play on the sides with them. The problem is, adult sized people aren’t meant to crawl around in hard plastic for eight hours at a time. The first day was fun. The next was brutal. Our knees were totally blacked with bruising. I mean the entire knee area was completely black and dark blue. Our elbows were too. Even our palms had light bruising. But we still had to get in the tunnels and slides. The first several minutes were brutal. The pain was incredibly intense. Then they became numb and we destroyed ourselves some more. We’d take a break and go back in and suffer the initial pain some more.
They finally brought us knee and elbow pads. Even with the thick padding the first few days were painful. But it did get better.

A miserable as that was, the worst thing that happened to me as a very shy young girl with zero self confidence, was when one day the place was completely packed as usual. So many parents treated us like babysitters and essentially ignored their kids once they got there. Some kids were awful. There were a couple of little boys that were rooming around and playing very roughly. Even with smaller kids and kids that didn’t want to play with them so we had to reprimand them several times. Then one of them snuck up behind me and pulled down my pants in front of a room packed with kids and parents. They all saw it. They all laughed for several minutes.

I wouldn’t have been surprised if I saw the evil little shit crawl out of the tubes at night with pointy teeth and gray skin. Maybe that is why they all closed. Maybe when we were busy, we didn’t notice that some of the kids never came in or left with the others.

I’m not going to play detective when I can ask a simple question and any normal human being who isn’t high on himself and blows a gasket when someone has the nerve to question him, would respond. Because it’s a question and a completely normal thing to do here in the comments section. You’re obviously well aware of it because you obviously live on Reddit. You recognized a photo from another post and played detective. Not everyone spends that much time on Reddit. Normal people respond normally.
