Lots of jobs require you to be bilingual as well in Miami, so depending on your career that is something to think about as well. I work in healthcare and they cannot require you to be bilingual in the hospital setting but I walked around with the translator iPad for a majority of my shift 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was born and raised in Miami and currently live in SD. As a non Spanish speaker it is difficult to get by in Miami. Depending on the setting , Spanish is commonly the first language spoken to you and sometimes the person realizes that you don’t speak Spanish and will speak to you in English . However, there are times where the person does not speak English and you have to use a translator app or ask someone for help. It gets a little tiring at times but I looked at it as an opportunity to learn Spanish. In San Diego i rarely run into situations where the other person speaks absolutely no English. I’d definitely recommend going to visit these cities for a good amount of time before moving there since they are all very different. There are so many other things that play into whether you will enjoy living in a city or not.

They tested his blood sugar three times after birth , all were normal. They told me that if his sugars were low they would either use a glucose gel, use the colostrum I brought into the hospital, or supplement with formula or donor milk. Disclaimer: Always check with your OB before starting to collect colostrum as it can trigger contractions.

I go to a Sharp OB and I have insulin controlled GDM. I did the initial class and I meet with an RN every two weeks to touch base on my current dosage. My OB is included in all of our messages over the app and she is the one who ultimately increases or decreases any insulin. I feel like the problem you might run into with using someone other than Sharp would be the OB taking recommendations from someone not in their network ( sharing patient information, getting appropriate prescriptions etc). The nurses work for the endocrinology department within Sharp . They’ve all been very knowledgeable and always include the OB as part of the final decision. When I go to the OB appointments my doctor is always aware of my numbers because she can see all the messages. You can also share access to your CGM readings with the diabetes educators at Sharp so that also helps a lot too.
