"Man of Steal" actually.

Good, someone said Aphrodite already. I just had to dig for it.
AVLien
I second London Electricity.
AVLien
Has nobody said Aphrodite yet? I see a lot of Roni Size talk and LTJ Bukem mentions. Also, what the fuck is "dad rock"?

Holy shit, this may be the longest thread I've ever seen in this sub.

Do you have a dog? If so => dog park. If not => go to a yoga class. Even if youhave a dog and already went to the dog park => go to a yoga class.

What if we had a bunch of notable electronic music acts take over downtown? We could have the Moog Foundation use it's clout to get a bunch of them to come here. It would attract a lot of tech industry which would create actual jobs for people who live here even if they can't work in a factory making jet engines.
What do you mean "we already tried that and the city screwed them over"?
Asheville wants nothing to do with any of that. The TDA is and always has been only to perpetuate itself. They want a steady stream of Bachelorette parties paying $600 a night for boutique hotel rooms (not a dime of which helps anyone here), singing karaoke at a bar with $25 cocktails, someone getting married the next day, and then catching a 4 a.m. flight to wherever they came from on Monday morning.
AVLien
Asheville hasn't had anything for locals in a long time. Probably since around 2012. Absolutely nothing here is for people who live here. That's what happens when half of the local government is just about tourism and the other half gets taken over by realtors. Nobody cares about locals. Haven't in a loooong time. They want the people who live here to move out so they can sell their houses and they want people to stay in hotels because that keeps the TDA fat and useless.

We used to make double this without trying.

3 years ago I wouldn't get in my car unless I knew I was going to make $50/hr.

Uber used to confirm my identity twice in a night. Been eriving for Lyft for about 8 years. How many selfies have I taken? Maybe 2. The market is saturated because literally anyone can hand their keys to literally anyone and they keep making money. Obviously Lyft gives zero fucks.

I regularly sit for an hour or more with 40% turbo. I live near downtown (Asheville) so I just head home after a trip. If I get a request, I don't get in my car right away because people cancel like crazy. I do drive at night, but even so there was zero waiting with Uber.
AVLien
🤣 You just got past the honeymoon. They will give you great trips and better paying ones when you start off, then you just becomes a cog in the machine.
You have to learn to game the whole thing. That means cherry picking, only driving when you have bonuses, being strategic about dead heading, and things like that. It looks different depending on your market and how/when you drive.
Try to find someone else in your area who's been doing it for a while. Ask them how they keep it profitable.
Also realize that all of the gig work companies have been aggressively restructuring the way they pay us which has resulted in much lower income. I'm making half of what I was a few years ago, and that was substantially less than a few years before that.

Uber pays better in every market. But then you have to deal with Uber pax...
AVLien
You're renting? 🤣 I thought this was a serious post at first.
AVLien
I love how they say $72 an hour like you're just going to rent an apartment when you get there. We have to drive back too idiots. 🙄
AVLien
I'm a driver. People do it all the time. Doesn't bother me one bit. Just means I can listen to whatever I want to and I don't have to chit-chat.
AVLien
9 years of 5-star rides didn't save me with Uber.
(😂 Lets see what happens when I say...)
