Oh, I'd love a copy of that book too if possible? Thanks in advance!

I found mine really helpful, but change GPs as many times as you need to find one who you trust to help you. See if they'll do house visits, if you don't feel you can leave the house - tell them your history and current suicidal thoughts and they will take you seriously. Get rid of the rope as /u/vertigo01 says; the impulse is a temporary thing with a permanent result. A new study has shown a link between brain inflammation and suicidal thoughts: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/319526.php.

...Please talk to someone, family, phone line help services and your GP. And I often recommend a CBT book called Mind Over Mood to clients; you can get it on Amazon in Waterstones or perhaps in your local library (and you can ask libraries to order in books they don't have). Sending you good wishes - please know you're not alone and things will get better; there is help and support out there and this will pass. Big virtual hug to you.

Love this comment. :)

If you really need a fall-back it's a good point to make, but the main point is that it's an outrageous, selfish demand that she has no right whatsoever to make of you! Honestly, it's totally out of order.

AboveAllBeKind

I completely agree!

AboveAllBeKind

Yes! And more importantly, hair colour is a personal choice, and no 'friend' would demand that they change themselves to suit the friend's agenda.

Brilliant mum!

I know?!!

:O :O :O :O

I just can't believe what I read on this sub sometimes..! You are being entirely reasonable. She's being utterly, utterly unreasonable, ridiculous, immature - as are the friends telling you you should 'just do it'. She has no right to make such an outrageous request; I'd be reconsidering the friendship(s)!

Here's the full article, in case it's of interest. (Edit - sorry, wrong link; corrected!)

Hi there, almost all websites require cookies to work properly, including Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/help/privacypolicy#section_cookie_policy As Reddit states:

"Disabling cookies

Most browsers include an option to clear existing cookies or reject new ones. However, if you do this, portions of the reddit website may not function as intended."

My Wordpress website won't function as intended without cookies so I can't turn off cookies on my Wordpress site. Therefore by EU law I can't load it for you if you say you don't want cookies. I respect any visitor's decision to leave rather than share cookies (or to use cookie-blocking software and visit anyway)!

As to what cookies I use, aside from any built-in Wordpress session cookies, I (like Reddit) use Google Analytics. From Reddit:

"Analytics Cookies

23 We use a tool called Google Analytics to help us understand how users interact with our website. It tells us aggregate usage and traffic information, such as how the site was accessed, how long visitors stayed, and the number of first-time visitors to the site. By knowing how people use the site, we can make it better. To learn more about Google Analytics and how it uses your data, please visit http://www.google.com/analytics/learn/privacy.html."

I don't use advertising on the site, apart from Amazon affiliate links for books etc. which I recommend, which use a cookie telling it you came from my website (so if you do buy the product, I'd get a few pennies from the purchase). That cookie only lasts 24 hours, and is only used if you click on the links. When I use an Amazon affiliate link, I mark it as an affiliate link.

The only private information I get is the email addresses of the people who've chosen to sign up with their email for my free emailing list, and whatever name they choose to type in with it. I don't share that with anyone. (I'm a one-woman business - I don't even have any employees who would see it.) I take privacy seriously, whilst still accepting that any of us using almost any website are already giving away much of our privacy. I hate spam, I'm a business coach who advises businesses and charities on social media and marketing, and I advise them on how to avoid spamming. I also reply to businesses who spam me with links to anti-spam law, asking them to change their business practice!

You're the first person ever since I launched the site in 2007 who's asked about this - and as a result, I'm going to create a page with a fully-laid-out privacy policy with the info I've just given you, so thanks for commenting! :) If you're interested in the content of the article, I could paste it into a PM to you?
