My employer of six years went through a disastrous merger. I was transferred to a manager who couldn’t find his ass with both hands, and I quit. About six months later, I got a letter from my last manager, telling me I had to sign multiple documents, which he had enclosed. He wanted me to say that I had continued to work for the company, after leaving, as an independent contractor, and accepting responsibility for things that either never happened, or had happened months after I had left. I wrote back and told him to pound sand, and cc’ed the CEO.
I later found out that my last boss had been telling people that I was working as an independent contractor, and had been blaming his endless fuckups on me. When the CEO found out that this had all been lies, he did the only reasonable thing, and promoted the manager.

That’s it. We’re done.

Serially, not in parallel. “Each” would have been clearer but wouldn’t have specified “two.”

That’s a bad thing and a sign that she’s not too tightly wrapped. Get away. Ever see Fatal Attraction?

I like the directness, too.
I called a woman I’d met, to ask her out on a first date. She seemed glad that I’d called, and before I could ask her out, she asked me out, for that night. We got married a couple of years later.
AgainandBack
It is possible. And I married both of them.

Given my former habits, I’m amazed that I’m still in portrait, rather than landscape. My guess is that it’ll be my heart.

Look at him dismissively, say nothing, and go back to what you were doing.

We were 20. It was our first date. We’d been to a party given by a friend of mine, and had then had something to eat before driving her home. As I was paying at the coffee shop counter, she asked me, “Look, are you going to fuck me, or not?”

It’s not invalid for everyone. Some people still like the spatial and tactile sense of a book. It’s nice to be able to go back a page without having to scroll. It’s nice to have a book in sight to remind you that it’s ready when you are. For some people, it’s easier to read ink on paper than it is to read a screen. A book is more than just the words it contains.

After 50 years of work, my purpose is to enjoy my life and to spend the maximum amount of time I can with my wife. Enjoying my life and being with her are pretty much the same thing.

And, monetizing our information exhaust is top of mind. We can take that offline while I’m out of pocket. Our processes need to be repeatable, scalable, and highly leveraged.

She felt like it was a waste of money. We were young and poor. She loved earrings; she considered them to be her hobby. I bought her some earrings for her birthday that would have cost about $100 now, and it caused a huge argument.

They’re Canadian and presumably the price is in Canadian dollars, which comes out to about $26 US. But still, ouch.

I’ve lost individual friends every 5 to 10 years, starting at about 18, until I was about 60. I’m past 65 and I’ve had four very close friends (out of seven) die in the last 18 months. Three were in their 50s, one in his 60s. Three to disease, one to an accident.
When I was in my 30s, I hung out with a lot of people who were a little too fond of drinking and drugging. I knew four suicides and two guys who brought martial arts to gunfights. In my forties, I became the sixth member of a semi regular poker game. Three of the other five guys have died, about 10 years apart.

Thank you for that. I’ve used every version and release of Windows since v3.0, and I didn’t know that.

At this point, I’m an old man, more than 30 years into my second marriage. But I sure remember the pain of growing into adulthood.
Thanks for the moral support.

We’ve all been in bad relationships. For those who’ve been abused or assaulted, I try to be sympathetic and understanding.

I understand. The summer I graduated, we went from being in love in May, and planning to attend the same college, to her announcing in June that she had decided to go somewhere else instead, and that things were over.
The hardest part is wanting to talk and get sympathy and comfort from the person who’s causing your misery.
Good luck to you. Growing up can really suck sometimes.

You can’t make someone stay. Talking someone into staying just manufactures disaster.
I think that the bigger threat is just the fact that you’re both 18. You’re entering a period where your values and personalities will change rapidly.
My single experience with an LDR was disastrous. It took me 18 months to find out things were not as I thought they were, and another year to find out that things were even worse. We spent a week together four times a year.

If he’s in a military training environment with 48 men sleeping in a single bay, and standing motionless in formation during the day, sometimes for hours at a time, and he farts like that, he will get beatings that he will never forget. You might mention that to him. He may wish to see a civilian doctor before he goes in. Seeing a man held down on a bunk while 47 other men take turns beating him with hard objects is unforgettable.

You’re someone he knows, not someone he’s committed to. He ridicules your expectations of attention and involvement because he doesn’t see you as someone he’s particularly close to. You were once, but things change, and no one let you know that things were over.
I suspect that if you just stopped contacting him, you’d never speak again.
For your own happiness, move on. As long as you think of yourself as his girlfriend, you won’t find happiness with someone else. He doesn’t think he’s your boyfriend. Why should you?

Decide now how much clutter you’re willing to put up with, and whether you’re ok with what it will do to your life.
The clutter will only get worse. At some point you’ll realize that you don’t have friends come over anymore, because you’re embarrassed by the mess, and because there’s no room for them to sit and have drinks, or eat.
Since you’re not having friends over, they gradually stop inviting you to their places. You slowly stop getting invited to parties. Eventually the only friend you talk to with any regularity is your girlfriend.
If that seems like a good idea, do it.
Her online relationships are more important than her relationship with you. She’s accusing you of being controlling when you’re trying to save your relationship. She clearly has no interest in your opinions, or in you as a boyfriend. It sounds to me like she’s already ended things by demonstrating her contempt for you and for your concern for her. I’m sorry that you have to go through this, but it sounds like leaving is the only path open. Expect her to be outraged.
