I hope you don't take this as being super defensive, because yes, you are right that Europeans were not rounding up the captives themselves. However, my understanding is that they actively created an arms race between African kingdoms in slaves for guns deals that resulted in these kingdoms needing those guns to defend themselves from being captured next. The British were especially good at manipulating other countries' geopolitics to get them fighting each other to the benefit of Britain.

My understanding is that the UK taxpayers finally paid off the loan that settled the compensation for slave owners in 2015. Ironically this could mean that the descendants of slaves could have been contributing to paying for their forebears freedom.

Just don't really see what all the fuss is about. It's fine when some clubs outspend everyone but not others. Football is hardly a fair sport from a financial perspective across the board, so then it becomes a means to punish some for the way they fund it or report on the funding due to the rules pushed for by clubs who do not want their positions threatened.

What is the value you are providing here? I ask as why would I pay for your application when I could simply build it myself or rather get Claude to build it.

This could be independent filmmakers or contractors that provided the BBC the report and the BBC did not do enough to ensure it was as evenly balanced as it should be, not removing blame completely but it must be an extremely difficult beam to balance on. As long as everyone is unhappy seems to be the aim with its news and political programs. Most of the rest of the BBC is strong.

I struggled with this comment "but a slot or similar can't be that hard"! I think you could be underestimating the math behind the slot, and it is this that drives the players experience. Balancing the hit rate and pay out distribution while maintaining the RTP and keeping it enjoyable, enough near misses and without long dry spells across millions of spins and 1000's of players. This is all driven by the math.

You could use the SDK provided by Stake to build it without really building the math behind it but as far as I'm aware this is for Social casino's only, although you can earn revenue from it.

This would be my take as well, if someone with little to no experience can build it then where is the moat?

The Post Office comes to mind here, but I see this in the private sector too. Difference is that it costs the consumer rather than the tax payer 😂 which makes it ok

I think the risk of getting into a competing escalation of payments with Iraq Kurdistan and the smugglers simply raising their bribes is very real, Erdogan already does this with the EU to some extent. We are essentially rewarding these Countries for having a smuggling problem and if they stop the smuggling they lose access to the money we are giving them.

My take is that the club have reverted to type, historically they have had two managers busby and ferguson and outside of that won a few fa cups. They are pretty much at their baseline when you remove the anomalies of those two managers.

I suppose minimize may have been a better term than hide, but he certainly wasn't shouting about the rise in immigration at the time. It's been a while since I heard the phrase 'Remoaner' its like going back in time 😄

AgeingCoder

Do you honestly believe this? There have been around 350k asylum applications over the last five years. I'm not sure what the cost is for that but I doubt that if it was removed it would be reflected in the average persons wallet. We need to fix the economy, that is where efforts should be directed, but the wealthy in this country are more concerned with stashing their money where it cannot be taxed rather than investing in the future of this Country.

Personally I think its funnier that Man Utd have out spent Man City in the last 10 years and have very little to show for it. Even taking it back 20 years I think Man City outspent Man Utd by around 150 million. But then I am probably one of the few who care little about Man City breaking terrible rules

AgeingCoder

I know its ridiculous but I often feel its a shame these nepo kids with all their privilege and the fortune spent on their education do not aim a bit higher than light entertainment. But maybe we do not hear about the ones that do

AgeingCoder

Aside from the 40k ish that come via the boats annually, immigration is very much controlled. It was a choice made by successive governments desperate to see some growth in the economy culminating in the Boris years where the qualifying levels were reduced significantly to hide the damage Brexit had (has) done

We now use Debezium to stream live changes since as we grew the aggregation batches took longer and longer and broke more and more often. But like most things, we just have different problems now 😄

AgeingCoder

That's fair, I work on interactive and the games we produce have all jackpots available at all bet levels, but the amount you win will depend on the bet level

AgeingCoder

In most regulated jurisdictions the jackpot has to be winnable from all bet levels, although the probability can and in most cases will be lower. So betting mid to max can marginally increase your chances.

My take would be that if we simply transplanted a past generation player into the modern game they wouldn't keep up with the pace, but i wonder if the technical ability required to manage playing on mud would provide some sort of advantage. Otherwise given modern training, diet etc they would manage fine.

I love the idea of classic matches, as a QPR fan I missed the team of the 70's by about 10 years and grew up with the Venables team instead, how good would that game be (i appreciate that only QPR fans would care) 😂

I believe there is a little bit of truth in all of that, its not always one person right and one wrong. Thatcher did loosen regulations enough to get investment into the Country but that loosening eventually (helped by New Labour) ended up causing the 2008 crash which as someone has said the UK economy has never recovered from. The quantative easing which was meant to flood the UK with cheap money for investment in technology and infrastructure was instead siphoned off for private gain. Leaving the UK with near zero growth in productivity, stagnant wages and recently high inflation. No wonder people are miserable :)

Ours is seven and still wants to take his ball into the garden every time we go outside. And then, like yours it gets immediately discarded while he chases and barks at squirrels, birds, chipmonks, passing planes, the moon....

AgeingCoder

But there are not any protests, i get a few grumbling apologies from neighbours along the lines of I'm sorry for our president etc but thats it (I'm a Brit living in Atlanta). Lets hope for the blue wave (tsunami) in the mid terms

AgeingCoder

Completely agree! But we have to ask why the economy is so shitty, 15 years of quantative easing meant free money which should have been invested in technology and infrastructure but instead was taken out as profit, those are the people that need to be punished

AgeingCoder

Not sure they hate workers just not sure where else the tax money can come from in an economy that not seen productivity growth since before the 2008 crash. Stagnant wages mean higher welfare bills as more people are drawn in the poverty trap due to inflation over the same number of years. Not one government has addressed this... just masked it by growing GDP through immigration

AgeingCoder

Maybe, for me, most probably. Not so much for the people who have been displaced.
