You need to be a real shit connoisseur to discern between two kinds of vile, disgusting, utterly revolting shit.

Akhevan

Why pay for AI when you can outsource to actually Indians for next to free?

Akhevan

That's cause they don't actually give a shit about classic+, what they wanted to hear is that retail closes down for their new pet project. Which it doesn't. Take a look at the last few days of shitposting in this sub omegalul.

Akhevan

I genuinely don’t understand why does this matter to some

Most classic players play classic not because they like it but because they hate retail. Thus they need their daily dose of copium that retail is gonna close down aaaany second now to vindicate their life choices.

We used to shit on Metzen for only knowing two basic stories and cycling through them back to back. People used to bitch about TBC retcons and villain baiting fan favorites from WC3. People used to whine about WTLK resolution and "there must always be a lich king" and about how WTLK leveling showed arthas as a saturday morning cartoon villain delivering vaguely menacing but impotent monologues. People laughed at his obvious self insert in Cata as the green jesus.

He was not overrated until he left and people put on the rose tinted nostalgia glasses.

Akhevan

Advanced space travel already does this, if you disagree with the evil empire of evil, just fuck off to where the empire isn't. We have ample historical precedent of just that back in the times where technology was even less advanced.

Akhevan

Does it hurt you?

It does hurt my eyes now that you mention it.

Akhevan

"Mr edgy redditor"
proceeds to strawman my comment history like a 13 year old who had just discovered the internet

omegalul mate

Akhevan

So you got the better allied race and still have the audacity to cry? Fucking hordies man

By the way I'm still waiting for my sethrak allied race, you can have diaper gnomes.

Akhevan

Why are you looking for pirate server recommendations on the official reddit?

Akhevan

You can't just use real world morals, make the plot revolve around it and then go around and smack everything around.

Sure and that's exactly realistic. In reality all practical examples of applying morals are underpinned by double standards. USA had bombed, invaded, staged coups and otherwise politically or economically destroyed dozens of countries since WW2? Clearly they are the paragons of freedom and democracy and leaders of the free world. Russia, China or Iran doing less than 1% of this fuckery? Evil totalitarian dictatorships must be subjected to universal sanctions and political isolation (and only because we are afraid of actually going to war with them, or we would). Don't forget brainwashing our citizens to hate them too, dehumanization is all fine and dandy right?

Akhevan

"Motives"? Omegalul mate is this your first week in WOW? Blizz don't even know this word.

Akhevan

Dark is relative. Artistic conventions in every genre mostly exist in context of previous history of said genre, not some objective relation to reality as we know it.

Most of the population are starving, diseased, illiterate, and also inbred due to a lack of sanitation, social or physical mobility, education, and general resources

This is true to an extent, but most modern "grimdark" depictions exaggerate it way out of proportion. They aren't any more realistic than more traditional heroic fantasy depictions, just in the other direction. You should not mistake stylistic choice for realism.

Most peasants weren't living in constant daily misery. They still had relatively normal lives even if hunger was a threat that is largely unknown to 21st century urban dwellers. You should look at historical sources and historiography and not just blindly copy from other fiction that proclaims itself to be "realistic".

Fun times, I'm sure our heroes won't die of cholera shortly after the story ends.

How many people died of cholera on average in any given area? This was a persistent threat for armies on the march, but for your average villager? Not to any significant degree.

all three are united by mass civilian casualties

Yes, of course this is realistic in any war. But so it is in reality. Is our own world "inherently darker" because USA killed or displaced millions of Iraqui civilians on drummed up pretexts of WMDs? Does nobody ever find peace and happiness because there is a civil war going on in Sudan that had killed or displaced millions of civilians and put millions of others under threat of hunger? Of course not, the rest of the world keeps living as normal and nobody gives a shit about it, other than some online virtue signaling.

Apply the same logic to your fantasy/scifi setting. Surely your monks will bemoan the constant wars and loss of life and how much it all is an affront to God. The rest of the people? Keep living as normal until said war knocks on their own door. While dutifully making token offerings for world peace in the temple.

Crucially, none of these pieces of media show that realism makes things less bad

The tone of the story is an artistic choice, not a tangible consequence of adding or removing realism.

I.e. the magic, cosmology, eschatology and literal aliens in Second Apocalypse are all extremely unrealistic while being the main driving force behind the grimdarkness of the series. Meanwhile realistic elements like genuine human relationships or connection add the rare glimpses of brightness and hope.

why cant I have a button to press to get out of it immediatly ? Or at least a filler spell that does not extend it and does something ( I know there is throw glaive but it feels like a joke).

Did you not get the memo that in this expansion blizz goal is to dumb all specs down as much as possible, and you are asking them to add new nuanced buttons that require skill and decision making to press? Omegalul it's a miracle they didn't remove the possibility to manually add any buttons other than one button rotation to your hotbar at all.

For real take one look at the state of pruning of the other specs.

Akhevan

And they really don't like summoning demons in their city.

omegalul @ this, their city is infested with demon worshipers

Akhevan

I agree = based
I disagree = go touch grass

internet 101

Akhevan

omegalul mate we are talking about blizzard here, you probably wouldn't be banned even if you accidentally torched their office

Akhevan

He may be butthurt about it but all of his advisers would be constantly pressuring him into upholding his duty to the country and his people as the monarch, and stuffing his personal feelings where sun never shines.

And if he still refuses to, what stops them all from overthrowing the idiot? In reality it would be akin to a king entirely dissolving all armed forces because a soldier killed his wife. It's just unbelievably stupid.

Akhevan

Imagine being so butthurt and complaining about spherical "realists" in vacuum when you are discrediting the inevitable conclusion of 500 years of history just because to you it appears like "men of incredible wealth going into desert to eat their warhorses".

Akhevan

I'm tired of every fantasy world needing elves, catgirls, and dwarves

Is this "every fantasy world" in the room with us right now? Take a look at some of the more popular works in recent years and you'll struggle to find much of traditional fantasy races there.

You seem to be describing the realities of fanfic or litrpg, not mainstream literature.

and if I take from less known mythologies (African, Native American etc) I feel like people will accuse me of cultural appropriation.

Why are people still so obsessed with cultural appropriation? Also, culture does not belong to anybody in particular, so it cannot be "appropriated" by definition. You can make an insulting or insensitive depiction sure enough, but "appropriating" it? Are you American or something?

Also, let's say that you do get accused by some butthurt anons online. So what?

Does anyone have good fantasy races that haven't been used or a way to make good fantasy races/creatures

Start with the part of why you can't just write your story with regular humans. What in it does require the existence of a "good fantasy race" to begin with?

Akhevan

EDIT: of course there's also the very real possibility that most of them are being posted from a bot arm in china or russia

Bro come on. Why would a bot shitpost in r worldbuilding when it has the rest of the political subs to frolic around? And if you believe that even a sizable minority of bots on reddit come from Russia or China, I have a bridge to sell you.

Akhevan

Meanwhile Russian history on Reddit: Cossacks are Ukrainians, except when they are killing Jews, then they are Russians!

Akhevan

Alliance pandaren would be anything but neutral after what the Horde did to pandaria, and later to their new compatriots in BFA. Although you can always roleplay a brain damaged prot warrior who got hit on the head one time too many.

Akhevan

Most of this sub hadn't played WOW since TBC or vanilla, so how or why would they know shit about it?

Akhevan

That must be the reason why they went from 2-3m players in SL to 8-9m players in DF-TWW. Because the game is so bad and is just chugging along on nostalgia. Totally unable to attract a single new player.
