A few interesting additions. Plus Race around the World will be back next year

I have been swooped, so there’s some places I avoid at the moment like the local park. But if I don’t walk the dog in the morning she causes mayhem, so a daily trade off

AnimalsChasingCars

Ha, I know. I just got excited listening to it on an early dog walk and felt I had to immediately spread the good word !

Destination ports in Australasia are far too spread out to appeal to customers wanting more active cruise schedules

I'm super happy to have a Luke's Banh Mi within walking distance. Never disappoints

I was about to ask, what is this account the keeps appearing in my feed and what is an "electrichor"?

Mushroom selling their Albert Park HQ after 50 years and moving to the CBD. Just thought this might be of interest to anyone who's been involved in music industry activities over the last few decades

We were booked on our American Airlines flight out of JFK on this same morning. Suddenly they cancelled all of our flights and when news came through of another crash we immediately thought it was another wave of terrorist attacks. A real panic in the air. It was such a highly strung time

High street stems from old English which means principle or most important road through a settlement

AnimalsChasingCars

Many historical streets are so named for very literal reasons (such as this) or are named after their destination. Williamstown Rd in Port Melbourne is named as it was the road that took you to Williamstown - when it reach the river there was a car ferry that crossed the Yarra to the western side, which was later replaced by the west gate bridge in 1978.

Sydney Road was previously called Pentridge Road because it took you to Pentridge Prison. As it developed it was renamed Sydney road because it took you to Sydney

A new AI danger emerges! Asking someone whether their (A.I. generated) art was A.I .generated may result in them biting you...

Has knowing that a joke might be clipped and judged online without the context of the full set changed how you write or perform stand-up?

It's safe to say that OP is posting a guerrilla marketing campaign for his own product! Having said that it's good to support local business so if it's a local independent then I'll def give it a go (or my pets will)

"Almost 12,000 readers voted on ways to make Melbourne more liveable. This is what you said"

1st - Build Airport Rail before the Suburban Rail Loop.

2nd - Build a park across the top of the Flinders Street railway yards.

3rd - Build greenfield suburbs with a tram connection to the nearest train station.

4th - Make public transport free on weekends.

5th - Allow community sporting clubs and the public to use Melbourne's racecourses.

6th - Make Melbourne Park a permanent open entertainment district.

7th - Equip schools with staffed kitchens to provide healthy lunches for students and encourage good eating habits.

8th - Impose a 1 per cent levy on tickets sold at major stadiums, arenas and government-owned venues, to reinvest in smaller live music venues.

9th - Build more protected bike lanes to encourage cycling.

10th - Close “Little” streets in the CBD to traffic to give pedestrians free rein.

11th - Ban Airbnb-style accommodation to return more housing to the rental market.

12th - Give school students 10 per cent of tickets to every arts and cultural event for free.

13th - Mandate automatic height limits of 20 storeys in activity centres to encourage apartment builds near transport hubs.

14th - Repurpose land at underutilised university campuses for high schools after the shift to online learning.

15th - Require big employers to offer free childcare services onsite that also service smaller businesses nearby.

16th - Introduce a London-style congestion tax, charging motorists a set fee to enter a designated area of inner Melbourne, to encourage public transport and pedestrian use.

17th - Have compulsory free gyms and outdoor roof space in all new apartment builds to improve health and wellness.

18th - Reduce the speed limit in Melbourne’s CBD from 40km/h to 30km/h.

19th - Build a swimming pool on the Yarra.

20th - Scrap VCE exams.

This from a News Corp article:

"52 minutes into the show, Sandilands played the first song, explaining that he would now be free to play music based on his own tastes, no longer forced to play “unlistenable music record companies shove down our throats.”

His first pick? Producer Josh Fawaz’s recent dance remix of the 80s hit Like A Prayer, a song currently dominating commercial radio that has been exposed as having been made with AI.

10 minutes later came the second song: A dance remix of the 80s hit Summer of ‘69, another viral TikTok song that some online have claimed was made with AI."

Honestly how clueless is this guy. Imagine saying that you're free to program your own music and then playing AI generated slop. Brainless behaviour

AnimalsChasingCars

I agree, but the subject heading was too long so I had to edit out a bunch of words to fit

What's this viewing location?

AnimalsChasingCars

Really great track. They’re purposefully not going out with obvious slam-bam singles, but a more expressive feel which reflects the universe they’re building. This song feels like a new classic. Good stuff

PREDICTION: Holly Valance will eventually enter Australian politics, and bring serious money and media attention with her.

Her increasingly public alignment with Pauline Hanson makes me think this is heading towards something more than celebrity endorsement. She's wealthy, media savvy, politically connected and already involved in political fundraising overseas. I'm sure One Nation sees the potential there.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Karl Stefanovic has at least entertained the idea of entering politics at some point.

In the wake of Trump, are celebrity politicians likely to become a bigger fixture of Australia's political future?

AnimalsChasingCars

I've noticed a few comments asking why anyone should care about charts or commercial radio airplay. Granted, they're not culturally relevant as they were in the '90s, but they're still useful yardsticks for industry acceptance and play a huge role in determining what music gets mass exposure.

It's just crazy to me that the mainstream music industry already seems completely comfortable pushing AI-generated vocals with zero transparency, which also reflects how this is becoming normalised across broader society
