Sadly, half of the country cares so little they aren't even going to go Vote next week to help change this situation.
It's crazy what is coming out of the Madlanga Commission, I hope we see a lot more unravel, finally consequences for some top dogs.
AnonomousWolf
That's for a 5 pack.
Literally the 1st link you sent says buy 2 for R56
So only R5.60 per pack, You said R30
There is very little calories in that fruit pack, you're going to go hungry if that's what you're eating,
AnonomousWolf
Yes that is exactly my point, food that is "bad for you" is cheaper than healthy food.
Then why did you claim "30 rand if you're generous at Checkers" if you had never bought it in years?
AnonomousWolf
Where are you buying noodles?
I just just checked and a 8 pack of brand name noodles is R45 https://www.checkers.co.za/product/maggi-chicken-flavoured-2-minute-noodles-8-x-68g-10978909EA
So less than R6 per pack, and that's brand name.

Electricity also took a long time to increase productivity.
All the bad things you have to say about AI, could have been said about the invention of electricity if you go back.
Electricity absolutely wrecked the environment, without it climate change wouldn't be anywhere near where it is now.
Knowing this, should we have tried to get people to stop using electricity?
AnonomousWolf
People could have said the same about railroads or electricity.
But in hindsight both those were great inventions that helped humanity.
AnonomousWolf
Sure, but saying people's farts from eating beans is destroying the environment, while technically not wrong shows that your concerns have little bearing in reality
AnonomousWolf
Yea there's lots of issues with AI, my biggest concern by far is privacy, and big corporations having too much control.
AI has made those problems a LOT worse.
Water and the environment was already cooked, we should focus on that too, but AI isn't even in the top 100 when it comes things causing damage to the environment or using water.
I think there's for sure a bubble, like the dot-com bubble, but bigger. When it pops hopefully we can get some cheap GPUs and run our own powerful enough models
AnonomousWolf
If you have a gaming PC, you can run quite capable models locally.
You can also pick ethically trained models that only used public domain training data etc.
And as for the effects on the climate, it's negligible.
People are looking for reasons to hate AI, and power usage is just another one.
It looks like a lot when you say "7000 billion liters of water a day" or something.
But that's like 2% of the water people use to water their grass.
So we should be even angrier at people watering their laws if that was actually our concern.
AnonomousWolf
I'm not sure what you're saying.
If climate is your biggest concern then AI is the least of our issues.
People will bitch about AI and then take a 6+ hour flight to go on holiday, which is far worse for the climate.
AnonomousWolf
Just dual boot and try it out.
If you don't like it, keep using windows.
That's what I did, and I never looked back, Linux is great.
My grandpa uses Linux, I'm sure you can figure it out
AnonomousWolf
It is compares to unhealthy food.
Eg. 2min noodles is cheap.
AnonomousWolf
This has already been posted
AnonomousWolf
I know it's garbage, but very few things taste as good as McDonald's at 3am
Or even better a garage pie.
AnonomousWolf
How inclusive of them in 2026 to also make shirts for pregnant men 🫃
AnonomousWolf
Yea healthy food is expensive 😅

It's possible that it's actually creating jobs, or that it will.
When a steam engine was invented that made trains use 10x less coal, people thought coal workers would all lose their jobs.
The demand for coal actually shot through the roof because needed 10x less coal meant way more people could afford to ship things.
The same might be true now, it's way cheaper to develop software, so way more people can do it.
5 years ago, paying someone to build you a app would have cost at least R1mil if you wanted anything of decent quality.
Now one guy can do it for you in a few months for R200k
AnonomousWolf
I'm not saying have AI do it for you, but have it double check your work once you're done. It's like having a 2nd set of eyes.
You for sure have to double check every detail and take ownership for it
AnonomousWolf
I work in Software Development.
I think some people don't know how to use it properly, I'm sure you can get it to assist you in marking homework.
Or find mistakes in a "test" you created (just examples)
AnonomousWolf
To get a Working-Visa to many EU counties you need your birth certificate
AnonomousWolf
I use AI heavily, I can finish twice the amount of work in half the time with AI.
It's a force multiplier, if you don't know what you're doing it's going to help you dig a hole, but if you understand what it's doing and how to use it, it can help you get things done quicker and at a higher quality.
If AI keeps going the way it is, we'd need UBI, or some kind of wealth distribution, else unemployment might just keep climbing even in developed countries
100% agree
