I would not advise using a company laptop outside of work. Besides Daddy Chip would never give anything out for free for you to keep

Aperturez

your posts are always a treat!

God forbid people know their value. No A&P fresh out of school should be taking up a job worth less than 30/hr. When I was in A&P school even before getting my certs I was turning jobs down left and right waiting for the right one.

Also OP it’s only been one week, you’ll find a fitting job eventually and be you’ll be fine.

I used to say the only requirement for SkyWest was to have a pulse, but I think they even moved that goalpost recently

I’ve had lots of luck getting first/business class on United flights to Asia. Domestic, however, I’ve only gotten first class once. I thought United didn’t do automatic international Polaris/business upgrades?

Aperturez

Having a pulse is the qualification to work at SHV. ORD last time I checked is outside hiring with a 10k retention bonus

I wouldn’t worry too much about a respirator unless you plan on going fuel tank diving. Most A&P work (at least at my facility) won’t require one. The most I generally wear is a N95 mask.

Aperturez

looking at my hangar, having a DUI is actually a required prerequisite to being an A&P

Great comment

I know at least over in 121 it’s a big deal the FAA cares about

Aperturez

Not too knowledgeable but I know on the E-Jets our FBW is analog (except for communication with the modular avionics units). As far as I know, that’s a lot less suspect to interference from solar radiation than the Airbus fully digital FBW system.

Page number in your textbook?

What makes you want to take up the offer with SkyWest? If it's just the sign-on bonus, I'd just wait for a different offer. Pay scale here isn't good and has a long top-out. Financially long-term, it would probably be better to work for a different company that pays more. Plenty are offering big sign-on bonuses right now. Not to mention, you might be stuck on nightshift for a while at SkyWest, it puts a lot of stress on families.

Aperturez

From what I’ve heard, they work damn hard. Also haven’t talked to anyone there in a few years though

Aperturez

You like OT?

Aperturez

This is the only good analysis I’ve read online so far. My leading guess would be fuel contamination

Aperturez

we should use an ai model to decide which ai model responds to the prompt

Aperturez

Pretty good if you know how to play the game. The more you do it the more tricks you learn. I’ve taken around 25ish flights since the start of 2025

Aperturez

Don’t piss hot and you’ll be fine

Aperturez

same here :,(

Aperturez

How are those two correlated? There are plenty of companies out there pulling in much less revenue that pay much more. SkyWest can afford to pay us more.

Aperturez

many such cases of ppl enjoying it

Aperturez

Really? I personally don’t know anyone who’s making less than 70k/yr right after leaving A&P school even with no experience. Includes MRO, GA, regionals, and majors

Aperturez

They cancelled the program last month. Despite posting record profits.
