So when the free tier of cloudflare allows 1000 subdomains, what are you doing that you use up all of those but don't want to buy a domain at $7 per year?

I'm poor. But when I have money this is definitely something I'd consider adding to a server

I like that my dbrand case make my phone mag safe compatible. Do I use it? Maybe once a month. Usually I charge with my laptop charger or while driving with Android Auto

Depends what you want. I've got a Boox Page. I love it. It's snappy enough I'm not concerned about lag or load times. I love that I can access books on whatever I want. I have Kindle, nook, kobo, Google Play, and Libby installed and they all work pretty great
The one feature that works for me but other people may not enjoy, is the android OS in regards to battery and sleep/power. I have it configured to turn off after 3 hours of inactivity. Completely off. You can't get that on a Kindle. As an infrequent reader who picks up the device only once a week, I know that it will have enough charge for an hour or two of use every time I grab it. I think in the past 2 years, I've had it on the charger around 10-15 times total. The trade off is that if you're a heavy reader for multiple hours a day, the Android OS isn't as efficient as a Kindle, or even a Nook. Whereas a Kindle might last a 4 days to a week of constant use, my Boox Page might only get about 3 days of non stop heavy reading

I use it for 2 drive mirrors in Proxmox. Mostly because it was easy to set up with the GUI. That's all

I like Plex as my OTA DVR. Do jellyfin or Emby support that?

I feel like the percentage of people with a spare gaming rig is low. And an unused one even lower. I turned mine into a Proxmox server. I feel like quality control and aging hardware are a speed bump to game compatibility. My spare gaming rig has a Ryzen 5 3600 and no discrete GPU. That alone would make it undesirable for gaming but ideal for a server since I stuck 28GB RAM in it a few years ago. Assuming you solve the security concerns others have mentioned you'll definitely need to solve the hardware concerns

I'm in the process of recreating this on my childhood laptop for my kid to use in a few years! I've replaced the HDD with an SSD and installed kidpix and some humongous entertainment games! All this still running on Windows 2000!

Very few came with built in storage. My family had a 2012 Chrysler Town and Country. We never tried USB drives but you could rip about 10-20 CDs to the internal storage of the factory infotainment system

Depends where you are. The DFW area has tons of entry level positions on LinkedIn. I have no degree and stumbled into it in 2021 when I worked at a startup and they asked me if I could fix a printer. I fixed that printer and migrated the company from Best buy laptops to Dell small business laptops and used that experience to land a real IT job. I'd also recommend being willing to do the jobs nobody else wants to do, like being an onsite technician for an MSP. It put 40k miles on my car but the experience was worth it

Highly recommend listening to the "Exploring the Lord of the Rings" podcast series if you have the time. They have great discussions on the Council of Elrond. It's been a year since I listened to that part but I seem to recall these points: the vala Aule who taught Sauron could definitely undo his work without question. However, with regards to the corrupting effect of the ring, the results on the Valar are unknown. They may laugh it off or they may get another more powerful "Sauron".
Separately, you're probably right that Aule could roll up and undo the ring. But as others have stated, they sequestered themselves in the undying lands (wizards excepted). As for bringing the ring to them, there's no telling what happens to the bearer of the ring on the way. Ostensibly an elf would need to carry it which risks corruption. We can't rule out an "Earendil" situation with a man or hobbit but that also risks corruption

So my post from the other day: https://www.reddit.com/r/gog/s/OCnC5KF3zw TLDR: a game that originally released on Windows 95, I downloaded the installer for it from GOG. It successfully installed and I had to rename a single file to get it running natively in Windows 2000.
There's a good chance that if the game launched on an OS, GOG will keep support for that OS baked in

I did this once. I got calls after I changed jobs and had to tell them to reach out to the actual help desk number

Opposite experience from me. I had a high quality immersive escape room around 10ish years ago. Most I've been to since then have been ok but the immersion breaks in one way or another. And then I had 2 that were super low effort cash grabs (think cheap AstroTurf and a kids play house with some broken puzzles). In general I feel like it's gotten lower quality for higher prices as the years go by

Way back at launch, I paid for some vbucks in Fortnite. I think I'll go delete my Epic account now

Stands for Good Old Games. It's a digital store front focused on classic games. Committed to selling all the games on their store DRM free. They go some length to make sure their installers work offline and ensure older games have what they need to work on modern versions of windows

Apparently the original hard drive was replaced with one manufactured in 2000. When I cloned it to an SSD, ddrescue found no errors. That laptop was in daily use from 2000ish-2005 with my family. Can confirm the device as a whole is still bulletproof

I've never heard of this wiki. What does one need to do to contribute?

Fun fact: You might be able to run the DOS games natively without DOS box. I installed Jill of the Jungle on my modern PC and copied the game folder. Running the direct .exe launched in DOS mode and just worked (did take over my sound though so I lost volume control)
Awavian
Which games were you trying to install?
Awavian
Right but the file system structure is completely different. And many .dll files are changed or missing compared to Windows 11. Also many software devs will bake an OS check into their installers. I was surprised that there was no OS check and that it installed successfully despite the different file structure

Partly because it was simple and includes a local node for quick restore. Partly because I ran into issues with rclone a few years ago and I've been ruminating on how to do backups ever since. I tried PBS on my gaming PC for a bit but ran into issues. I tried running PBS on my Proxmox host with an iSCSI mount on my gaming PC but the mount kept failing. I tried connecting PBS to my free tier of Backblaze before PBS added S3 support but that kept breaking and I never paid for it because of unreliability at the time. My budget is tight so I would rather not pay for cloud storage. Eventually I'll save up enough money to buy a mini PC or something so I can actually run a dedicated PBS node but that's a future me problem
I'm a younger millennial. I'm a new father. I'm also starting a new job. I'm just trying to live life and survive. I plan on voting but I can understand why voting is not even considered for a priority list by the average young person
