I’ve modified a few of these things but to be honest it’s easier to re-shell it with a aftermarket shell that is made for an IPS screen. Good luck.

This is the most recent one I have. Not going for the MSX games and at the moment only trying to complete the NTSC releases.

My MGS collection is nearing complete as well. Nice job. Last thing I need is MGS 3 subsistence limited edition and I’m done.

Check my recent posts. I’ve only been soldering on modded handhelds for about 6 months but I fully recapped my game gear and installed a BennVenn IPS screen on mine. It was the most soldering I’ve ever done but with a little bit of patience it can be easily done. Worth the experience to try in my opinion. Good luck.

Tetrachloroethene (PCE) is an amazing solvent but is absolutely one of the most toxic chlorinated solvents we use. Most people have no idea that their dry cleaning is cleaned using this. I investigate environmental releases into the soil and groundwater and this compound (including its breakdown products, which are arguably more toxic) is one of the most prevalent pollutants on earth.

I only got the general admission for Friday. How early would be safe to get there?

I have not seen any scaling issues or shimmer in mine. I know there are different scaling options in the menu as well as options for scan lines. The BennVenn screen has been perfect IMO.

I love my solution in every way.

I had a similar issue with the color on mine. It was washed out white at first. After I reflowed the ribbon cable, the washed out color went away and then it turned to a reddish color. I spoke with BennVenn and he indicated because mine was an early version single ASIC to go into the menu system of the display and switch the ASIC type from late “L” to early “E”. Fixed my problem immediately. With yours doing it automatically it could be something else.

To be honest I would jump on BennVenn’s discord and ask him for help. He helped me out a lot and responds very fast. This was the main reason I went with this screen.

Ty ty. It was my first recap and wasn’t hard. I wanted to take the time to make them look as close to what the factory would have done.

Didn’t really care for the touch sensor. The controls are just easier IMO. Also, my first time recapping.

Very solid start my friend. Mine is almost 100% complete. Just need the MGS 3: Subsistence limited edition set and I’m all done. Check my previous post for my collection (minus a couple of recent additions)

What a way to not only scar and emotionally traumatize your children. Why can’t these looney toons just accept reality and facts and just get on with their lives like 99.99999+% of the rest of us.

This is always entertaining to watch but anyone with any kind of common sense would never be this ignorant or stupid.

I used the AMOLED mod with the drop in aftermarket shell and I couldn’t be happier. There is a lot of tribalism on IPS vs the OLED screen but I couldn’t honestly tell the difference. This was the easiest screen to install and took almost no soldering experience to do.

I’ve been on the lookout for this one for a while now. Just scored the PS1 version.

I don’t think the sticker route is worth it IMO. They will just fall off in time. I’m still on the lookout.

Take a look at my recent post. I’m in the same boat as you. The part is discontinued and the ones at the junk yard are in just as bad condition.

I always clean every game and case no matter what. It’s surprising how much nasty junk comes off after all these years.

Wow that is an amazing score. Super jealous. I’m working on the demo releases at the moment. Will keep my eye out for this one.
