Why are people mad at OP?

If you cant access the DLC characters you own offline, is that not a massive deal? Forget the PHP shit. The servers can be down for anything else and the problem would still exist.

BP_Ray

Does this work alongside Dualsense Haptics? That's the big thing that I dislike about using Steam as a way to get gyro.

I didnt bother using Gyro in Death Stranding 2 as an example since I wanted to still have the haptics more than I wantes gyro.

BP_Ray

You're trolling. That's okay, but next time save me the time and just say "I'm trolling, please ignore me" instead of this cry for attention, okay, little fella?

BP_Ray

I'm really hoping as far as Ace Attorney goes, It's Shu Takumi back to helming the mainline games.

I didn't really like the direction Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice took in his absence, meanwhile The Great Ace Attorney felt like it took a lot of what he was trying to do in Apollo Justice, but actually mostly made it work this time around.

BP_Ray

I dont hate Chadley's existence, I found him tolerable in part 1.

It's him as a function that I despise in part 2. His function is to make you do chores, yap your ear off, and generally be a time-wasting nuisance. When he was just the battle sim guy I didnt mind him but in part 2 him and Mai are so much more and so much worse.

BP_Ray

You can tell a Cammy downplayer is being unreasonable when they're dour about divekick.

I just spent this weekend watching Bravery and Punk rip that shit like its nothing on pros, and the most they can do is try and PP it because going for a DP will get you blown up.

Let's Cammy players get away with so many jump-ibs

BP_Ray

This is quickly turning in SF6's own ewgf.gg

Thanks for the hard work. This is making me feel motivated to get back to grinding harder.

BP_Ray

I will never fully understand people complaining about an activity they choose to do.

I will never understand not having something to criticize about some of the things you consume.

I didnt buy Rebirth intent on hating it. I loved FF7 and the first part of the remake, so I, as someone who enjoys open world games, expected to love the Rebirth open world only to be met with some really easy to resent elements.

I still on the whole like Rebirth (But have a lot to criticize both in side content and story), and I suspect Ill like it a whole lot more on a Hard mode playthrough where I can focus on the main story, but the open world aspect was more than disappointing.

BP_Ray

I'm suggesting that you're not expected to do all or most of the korok seeds. You run into them when exploring, if you happen upon them, great, you do whichever one is in front of you during your natural gameplay loop.

In Rebirth, all of Chadley's chores are earmarked for you on the map, on the menu, on your compass, and whenever you talk by one Chadley (or worse, Mai) decides to pipe up and start yapping in your ear to tell you about the World Intel you possibly don't even give a shit about.

And I didn't misspeak, I was specific with my language, because if I said that Chadley's side content IS obligatory I'd get hit with the "ummm ackshually, to beat the game you don't need to do it".

So yes, it feels obligatory, and that's almost as bad as being obligatory, which is why so many people complain about them. You need to do them (and A LOT OF THEM) for certain side quests that otherwise didn't really need to be tied to them. For example, Kyrie's side quest doesn't at all need any world intel Chadley stuff. Then, all of a sudden, at the end of the game they lock the resolution to her side quest chain behind doing all of the life springs in two separate regions, plus multiple excavation intels, and defeating the mini-boss classified intel in those regions, plus however many remnawave towers you'll need to find all of the above in those two regions. Oh, and those two regions are Gongaga and Cosmo Canyon, the two most annoying regions to traverse in. This will take you multiple hours if you haven't already grinded his world intel.

Not to mention the coolest materia in the game require you to do Chadley's chores and get your allowance from them. If you don't, you're not playing with a full deck of cards, so to speak.

Again, more reason why players feel obligated to to do Rebirth side quests. Not doing the awful, repetitive, grindy side content in Rebirth doesn't just mean being underleveled, that by itself wouldn't be that bad, It also means combat and party setups are less interesting

BP_Ray

That's cool.

I love open world exploration, but I despise the way Rebirth checklisted open world exploration. The OP video doesn't give me too much hope though because I see on the compass Chadley has his little chores marked there for you.

BP_Ray

I haven't played Odyssey and Valhalla, but I have played Shadows and I think the side content in Rebirth is definitely worse, partly due to the fact that it feels more obligatory whereas AC Shadows' checklists feel like the equivalent of BotW Korok Seeds -- You're not meant to do them all.

At multiple points in the game, for certain side quests you'd hope would have nothing to do with Chadley's chore (literal) checklist, you HAVE to grind Chadley's open world chores and hear him YAP YAP YAP.

The game built so much resentment in me with that stuff.

BP_Ray

Complaining about side content is so weird to me. Just don’t do it if you don’t like it. You’re not obligated to 100% every game.

Nah, I think this is a bad defense of Rebirth.

There's a lot of reasons why this game has so many people complain about the side content, and there's a reason why people feel an obligation to do the side content.

For example, let's say you found Broaden an interesting minor character and wanted to do his sidequest, but you really hate Chadley and his world intel stuff? Too bad. You're going to do Chadley's stuff, and you're going to have to hear him yap every five seconds because you have to;

  • Make the Windmill Gear

  • To see how to make the windmill gear you need to do Excavation Intel 1 in the grasslands.

  • To be allowed to do Excavation Intel 1 in the grasslands you need to do two Lifespring intel in the grasslands

  • To know where the lifesprings are in the grasslands, you're most likely going to have to climb an Ubisoft tower or two to uncover them unless you run around until you find lifespring owls

  • To actually make the windmill gear you need to get some standard Grasslands materials, and the Quetzacotl Talon

  • To get a Quetzacotl Talon, you have to fight and beat the Quetzacotl in the "Classified Intel"

  • To unlock the Quetzacotl you need to do 4 lifespring intels, so get back to hunting those and probably Ubisoft towers to make your life easier, too

That's nearly double digit world intel stuff you HAVE to do just to do this sidequest associated with a character you might have found interesting. And the resolution to this sidequest wasn't worth the investment, might I add.

There are multiple sidequests like this in the game. Hell, Kyrie's final sidequest is absolutely the worst example of this since it requires you to do the song and dance I mentioned above in TWO different regions with even more lifespring requirements in both those regions, so if you haven't been doing all your world intel stuff but you genuinely like Kyrie's quests, tough luck brudda, get to grinding away chores for Chadley all over the world.

I'd argue Kyrie's is even more sinister because they bait you with a side quest chain that's completely untethered from Chadley's nonsense, only at the end of the game to hit you with her side quest suddenly needing you to do more Chadley stuff than anything else in the game requires outside of Gilgamesh.

That's not even getting into the fact that Chadley's chores lock really cool materia behind them. So if you don't get your allowance from Chadley for doing your chores, you don't get to play with a full deck of cards. Therefore players feel obligated to do their chores because otherwise the main appeal of the FF7R games, the combat, is less fun and you get to experiment less with It's most interesting materia.

You can't simply handwave the problem away by saying "Well if you don't like the side content, don't do it" because the game shoves the sidecontent in your face, the side content is generally repetitive and unfun, and Chadley/Mai make it even more unfun and repetitive by the mandatory yapping they do whenever you do any of it (even if some of the scenes are skippable, there's still a startup animation you can't skip before you can skip the empty yap).

Again, all these reasons and more is why the number one complaint about Rebirth is the side content. The game makes the side content feel obligatory.

BP_Ray

Daytime lighting is still quite hideous, but ah well.

I really wish they would let the time of day change. The game looks great at night and sunset, and some maps have the baked lighting for sunset already in it (Corel Desert, Junon Region) but no way to access those times of day outside of the exact part of the story where you arrive in those regions during those times.

BP_Ray

It's funny, because despite being the boob girl, somehow Mai isn't ranked in the top 5 KoF bust sizes.

I don't care though. She'll always be my GOAT.

BP_Ray

Nevermind then, my bad.

BP_Ray

Why the fuck is the top comment saying this is vibe-coded?

SaveMGO has been a thing before even ChatGPT became publicly available.

BP_Ray

Oooh, I'm telling on you.

BP_Ray

It makes it too easy for someone making a FG to copy SF6 as a template for the bones of their game.

Getting the data is trivial for anyone knowledgable though. That's be the dumbest reason imaginable.

BP_Ray

Didn't Juri beat the fuck out of Cammy and Guile by herself?

Chun-Li at least made her sweat in the 1 v 1.

Mai Shiranui apparently bodies all of them, though, going by SF6 arcade mode/world tour where she dogwalked Juri lmao. Nippon ichi indeed.

BP_Ray

What do you mean "weebs"?

Brother, the screenshot says "Global Voting" and over half the userbase is Japanese.

BP_Ray

Reddit is littered with these kinds of people nowadays.

I dunno when this culture shift took over, but certain places, like on /r/games, It's REALLY bad. Anytime you don't like something a corporation does, you're simply not being an adult about it. The adult thing to do is to mindlessly praise and consume.

BP_Ray

Why would they hide frame data when its accessible in game and on their website.

Show me where I can see hitbox/hurtbox visualizers on an official Capcom site.

BP_Ray

I've tried playing the emulated version and it runs like shit.

Works fine on my machine.

BP_Ray

That didn't answer the question about the Spec II mod.

I'm guessing that's a no, since the HD HUD mod IIRC doesn't work with Spec II atm.

BP_Ray

part of the problem is the other sub, Recomps, is staunchly anti-AI

I fucking WISH.

It'd be nice to have a subreddit that was pro-AI and one that was anti-AI, but in reality both subreddits are the same.
