The fuck do you mean he can still use magic?!?!

☝️ McScuse me. Wasn't one of the punishments of his trial to be stripped of his magic powers? The fuck do you mean he can still use magic???

BackgroundNPC1213

YOU NICKNAMED MY DAUGHTER AFTER THE LOCH NESS MONSTER????

Upgrading Stasis and the remote bombs are also IMO must-haves for Trial of the Sword. Stasis+ freezes enemies and lets you get free hits on them, and upgraded remote bombs do more damage, have a bigger blast radius, and recharge faster

It's especially useful in Master Mode when enemies' health regenerates faster than the base remote bombs damage them

BackgroundNPC1213

I mean, Vox has a whole cult in his basement during the Vees' portion of Hazbin Guarantee in S2E1, but all those people could just be hypnotized

BackgroundNPC1213

why were they secluded

I mean. We have the Amish in our modern-day society that live what could be called "secluded" lives due to religious/traditionalist reasons, and there are entire tribes that are hostile to outsiders. I've been in small towns where everybody knew each other and I was the odd one out that everybody looked at with suspicion, because I was a stranger just passing through on a roadtrip

what did she mean "I had no idea it would be like this"

There was a story within the last decade of a religious missionary going to try and contact an island tribe known to kill outsiders. Predictably, he was killed by the tribe, and his body remains unrecovered because the tribe will kill anyone coming to retrieve his body. Maybe the Shadow Hamlet people weren't that hostile, but they could just be wary of outsiders, and an outsider coming to tell them of an impending apocalypse would probably be met with doubt and scorn (particularly if they were some manner of religious and had their own belief system that didn't foretell an apocalypse)

BackgroundNPC1213

I think they were just regular Hylians living in the shadow of Death Mountain, tbh. They were just hermits

For reference, this is a kiwi bird skeleton with its egg inside the body cavity. Note the lack of an obstructive pelvic girdle

BackgroundNPC1213

Kiwi birds don't have humanoid hips. The Goetia look pretty humanoid so it's fair to assume that Stella's hips would be built like a female human's hips, but they also lay eggs, and we see her with a bump that looks equivalent to a third-trimester pregnancy

There is no way an egg this size is fitting through humanoid hips without cracking

(if it has a hard shell; maybe Goetia eggs aren't like normal bird eggs and have leathery shells that harden once they're laid)

I just found a free Soldier's Broadsword behind Woodland Stable last night. I never knew it was there because it's hidden behind one of the trees behind the goat pen

Because Holstrom was so convinced of his intellectual superiority that he believed he was the only one that would ever crack Integrity, so obviously they needed to create another Holstrom to solve the problem. He didn't entrust the problem to someone else because anyone else would be "lesser". He didn't want to be reiterated over and over again because it would diminish him somehow if he could just be rebooted from Zero Day repeatedly, and besides, the new iteration would have no knowledge of the breakthroughs its predecessor had made unless the predecessor had left notes (and I'm inclined to believe that Holstrom wasn't the type to leave notes that could be found by other people for risk of those other people stealing his ideas, even other iterations of himself, because those other iterations wouldn't be "him")

Copy fatigue doesn't really apply either considering that digital data can have baked in error correction to fix issues. It's why a single person can upload a program and have it be downloaded billions of times with no loss in quality.

This was the Integrity they were trying to crack and why MIST was created, so all future Uploads wouldn't have the Zero-Day Flaw that caused model degradation the longer the UI was running. Billions of people downloading the same program in this scenario would be like billions of people downloading the Zero-Day Upload of the UI (the UI when it's first iterated, like the David 2.0 we see spun up in Season 2), not the UI-Laurie that we see in the show that's been running for a few years already and is starting to decline due to the Flaw. They would get the OOB experience with a fresh UI, but the longer that UI was up, the more it would decline, because it isn't an issue that develops over time after multiple copies exacerbate flaws in the base code, the Flaw was baked into the code from the very start

BackgroundNPC1213

Characters and themes are better in Hazbin, imo. Blitzo is...kind of annoying, and Helluva's humor just isn't my thing, I don't really like its brand of crude, profanity-laden shock humor. And everything I'm seeing online about Stolitz in the new season isn't convincing me to start watching the show again

BackgroundNPC1213

Karsh the Gerudo in BotW says that she might be interested in a Goron for their endurance (she's walking outside Woodland Stable with Boldon, Goron City's Ambassador of Tourism a few steps behind). But I don't know if they'd actually be able to have kids because Gorons are "born of the land" per TotK dialogue, and they're apparently genderless? They're allowed into Gerudo Town despite being male-presenting

BackgroundNPC1213

I just don't think he'd be the type to go on a murderous rampage, tbh. Maybe at first yes, when he was freshly Fallen and enraged at Heaven. Then when the Sinners started coming in, these people who had misused the gift he got thrown out of Heaven for, it would've been like rubbing salt in the wound, and at first maybe he would've lost it and slaughtered them in a fit of rage. But then they kept coming, no matter how many he killed, until there were just too many

And it would've strained his relationship with Lilith, who saw these Sinners as her people. Maybe he stopped the slaughter for her sake, then just never started it up again now that Charlie also sees Sinners as her people, so now him going on a killing spree would upset the two people he loves most, so he doesn't anymore

And his depression could've warped him to the point he just doesn't care to. These Sinners keep coming and keep fucking up every good thing he tries to do, so he's stopped trying, and every time one of the powerful ones dies, someone else just comes in to take their place in a neverending cycle, so what point is there in killing them? He has Charlie and the hotel to think about now too, and how would it look if he went out and murdered a bunch of the souls Charlie is trying to redeem? Would people even want to try for redemption if they hear that the Devil with the hair-trigger temper and propensity for smiting Sinners was living at the hotel?

BackgroundNPC1213

So was this your first episode? Helluva introduction to the series, tbh

BackgroundNPC1213

I think Calip just meant the Faron Ruins were discovered before the ones in the sky (or his conclusion is just wrong).

Could be, but the Zonai Ruins/Spring of Courage in Faron also house the Zonai-made Charged set, which was a ceremonial set used for rituals at the Spring of Courage and activated when in the presence of Farosh, and the white architecture revealed during the Fifth Sage questline matches the Zonai architecture we see in the Depths and sky, which, based on in-game lore, are MUCH older than the Thyphlo Ruins (the tablets were written in modern Hyrulean so they were built much more recently). The ruins and spring could have been built when the Zonai were first on the surface, then covered up for some reason by the same Hyruleans who built the Thyphlo Ruins (probably meant to conceal the path to the Construct Factory)

while geography in Zelda is known to not be good evidence for any theory, I feel the maps aren’t that different.

It's different enough from the map in the Forgotten Temple that some land would've had to have shifted to match the maps in other games. The architecture of the Great Plateau being present in the past is another sticking point, because the Great Plateau and that architecture do not exist in any other games, so that specific landmark was present from the Founding Era all the way up to when Link wakes up in Breath of the Wild. It isn't possible for OoT to have taken place within that timeframe because OoT doesn't have the Great Plateau (and OoT's Temple of Time is in the wrong place in relation to the Wild-Era's Hyrule Castle)

And I vehemently disagree with the maps not being "good evidence" for theories. The maps are just as much part of the lore as everything else. If the games had different maps, they wouldn't be the same games, so IMO we have to take the map into account when theorycrafting

Emphasis has to be put on “Without the castle in place, the site may be disturbed.” and the line before it saying the castle is just to protect the site. This interpretation also tends to assume Link and Zelda’s exploring underneath the castle caused Ganondorf to awaken.

Ganondorf's TotK Character Profile states that the seal on him was weakened by damage to the castle during the Calamity 100 years before BotW, maybe damage to the purification unit which prevented it from effectively filtering Gloom and allowing Gloom to bottle up in the Imprisoning Chamber + to seep out into Hyrule. So from that point, it only took around 107 years for TotK-Ganondorf to break the seal, and whatever was left of Rauru sensed Zelda's presence and released Ganondorf in order to give her the Secret Stone in TotK's opening, which was the final push Ganondorf needed to break free. I think Ganondorf would have awakened anyway just by the Gloom corroding whatever was left of Rauru over time, but Link and Zelda being down there when they were just caused it to happen sooner (and it couldn't have happened any other way due to TotK's closed time loop)

Twilight Princess’s has the same architecture and was destroyed but was seen fixed in the credits which you would have to refer to the second reason.

For Twilight Princess specifically, either the castle was moved or the Temple of Time was, since they're in the wrong places relative to each other for OoT's map, but based on Ganondorf still being sealed in TotK + TP's Temple of Time being in the right place relative to Hyrule Castle for the Wild Era map, it's more likely the Temple of Time was moved, not Hyrule Castle. But then TP's Death Mountain is in the wrong place; it's too far south compared to its Wild Era location, and TP's Zora's Domain is just in the completely wrong place versus its Wild Era location. The North Palace in Zelda 2 could potentially be the Wild Era Hyrule Castle, but only if its map was turned so east was north and everything off the left side of the map is Wild Era Hyrule (with the Lost Woods growing in a new location over time because its Zelda 2 location is wrong compared to BotW's map)

I don't think references to other timelines requires a convergence as its possible the Maiamai from Albw simply spread the legends around or maybe it's true that the Happy Mask Salesman can travel across timelines and do so instead.

Some of the DLC/Amiibo items you find in chests in TotK's Depths have descriptions that suggest those are the real artifacts from previous games (like the Twilight set stated to still have wolf fur on it and the Sea-Breeze Shield being described as "a family heirloom"). These items are from all different timelines, and the maps that pinpoint their locations are up on the sky islands. These items being present in the Wild Era, and apparently having been discovered and then hidden away by the Zonai, suggest that a timeline convergence must have taken place sometime in the past, for all these items to exist in the same world; Twilight Princess and Wind Waker happen on different timelines, and if those are the real items from those games, as suggested by their descriptions, the only way they could exist in the same timeline is if there was a convergence at some point, before the Zonai found them

One of the Zora tablets also states that Sidon is a descendant of OoT's Princess Ruto. This could just be royalty making up that they're descended from a mythological figure to assert their "divine right" to the throne (like was done in human civilizations in the past), but if this is literal, then Princess Ruto of OoT is canon to the Wild Era (also confirmed via dialogue in BotW; Ruta is named after Ruto), and OoT needed to have happened before TotK's Founding Era since the ancient Water Sage looks identical to modern-day Zora, meaning that the Zora did not change since the Founding Era. Another sticking point for other games having not taken place between the Founding Era and the modern-day, because the races look different in other games, and because the Rito and Gerudo didn't even exist in Skyward Sword; the Gerudo first appear in OoT and the Rito evolved from Zora along the Adult Timeline during Wind Waker. Before Age of Imprisonment released there was speculation that the ancient Water Sage was named Ruto, but in AoI her name is Qia, and Qia states in her dialogue in TotK that Sidon is also her descendant, so either Qia's bloodline evolved into different forms (into the OoT Zora) and then went right back to how Qia looked in time for BotW, or the Zora have remained unchanged since the Founding Era and Ruto was Qia's ancient ancestor

Ruto existed in all three timelines since OoT is the divergence point, but Ganondorf still being sealed means that TotK's Founding Era cannot be in a timeline where Hyrule Castle was destroyed, which rules out the Adult and Fallen timelines (Hyrule Castle is rebuilt by A Link to the Past, but once again, landmarks in Zelda 2 further down the timeline don't match their Wild Era Hyrule placements). So: Child timeline, Twilight Princess specifically, but again the landmarks are in the wrong places, and TP's graphics were advanced enough for there to have been a Great Plateau as it appears in TotK's memories, but there isn't, and the Lost Woods around TP's Temple of Time are not where they are in the Wild Era. Four Swords Adventures? Ganon is sealed at the end of that game and then never returns because that's the end of that timeline, and BotW and TotK make it pretty clear that Calamity Ganon is an emanation/Phantom Ganon of TotK-Ganondorf, so FSA-Ganon didn't reemerge as the Wild Era Calamity (unless his residual essence merged with the miasma leaking out from Hyrule Castle)

And speaking of Ganondorf: if all the other games happened between the Founding Era and the Wild Era, then there were two Ganondorfs/Ganons present through all of them, since TotK-Ganondorf was sealed underground for that entire time. If that's true, then it's explicitly possible for there to be two incarnations of Demise in existence at the same time, so could there also be two Heroes and Princesses? (Zelda and the Light Dragon don't count as "two" because of time travel fuckery, they're the same person just at different life stages)

Edit to add:
The Secret Stones would have also existed for the entire Zelda timeline, since they were present in TotK's Founding Era. Meaning there were two all-powerful god-made artifacts that could grant immense power to the ones who wielded them, the Triforce and the Secret Stones (and the Master Sword but it can only ever be wielded by the Hero), and based on all the legends about the Zonai we hear in TotK, people knew about the Secret Stones. The Dark Skeletons in the Depths closely resemble the Wild Era dragons' serpentine body shapes (shown outright to be the type of dragon that results from swallowing a Secret Stone), and the skeletons are about the same size as the Demon Dragon, so it could have been that these three Dark dragons found and swallowed the Secret Stones for evil purposes and were then defeated (since the Secret Stones seem to have some kind of sentience, able to change their appearance based on who wields them and how the Demon Dragon, an evil dragon, was formed with weaknesses so it could be defeated; the good dragons have no such weakspots and are much smaller)

The skeletons of the leviathans (directly over the Dark Skeletons) are also skeletons of other Zelda entities. The Eldin skeleton is Levia (Skyward Sword), the Gerudo skeleton is the Wind Fish (Link's Awakening), and the Hebra skeleton is Oshus (Phantom Hourglass). Oshus and the Wind Fish are on different timelines, another point toward a convergence

Sometimes he likes you to place the house directly on his head. Then he can't move because there's an object obstructing him, and you're over there repeatedly lifting this damn house up and putting it down and wondering WHAT THE FUCK IS IN THE WAY???

Idk about the gays but us asexuals reproduce by budding (when there's a plentiful supply of garlic bread)

BackgroundNPC1213

I mean, the possibility of permadeath only started with the Exterminations 7 years ago, and before that it was Alastor doing whatever it is he does with the souls in his broadcasts, but even that was only within the past 100 years

So that's still thousands and thousands of years where Sinners couldn't die, unless Lilith was able to permakill them and we just don't know that about her yet

BackgroundNPC1213

I keep getting timelines mixed up because I keep thinking the Triforce of Courage split when Link left for Termina, whoops. But then that Link came back to Hyrule and had kids which resulted in Twilight Princess Link so-

BackgroundNPC1213

God don't get me started on how TotK disrespected the Champions 😭 Harth straight-up forgot about Revali between games (he has dialogue about how he's "never seen anyone" pull off a trick like Tulin's Gusts like MOTHERFUCKER IT IS A HORIZONTAL REVALI'S GALE, COME ON), and I guess the Zora don't hold the Champion's Festival (a festival to celebrate MIPHA) anymore because there's no mention of it and the Ceremonial Trident doesn't exist in TotK

And how the Champions' weapons were just an asset flip in TotK, like what do you MEAN the Sages in the ancient past used those exact same weapons?? The Great Eagle Bow is literally a tiny self-portrait of Revali and the Lightscale Trident was specifically made FOR MIPHA when she was born, and it was so intrinsically tied TO MIPHA that the Zora MADE A FAKE ONE to use in the Champion's Festival so the real one wouldn't get damaged! And the Champions are still explicitly mentioned in the item descriptions because these are THEIR weapons! Nintendo could've kept everything going on with the weapons in TotK intact and just said that the new circumstances surrounding them is meant as a way to honor the Champions who wielded them: the Boulder Breaker being a test of smithing skills is a test to see if newer generations are worthy of wielding Champion Daruk's legendary weapon; the Scimitar of the Seven and the Daybreaker are reserved for Gerudo chiefs to honor Champion Urbosa, the legendary chief who sacrificed her life for her people; the Lightscale Trident is gifted to Mipha's descendants/family and those who prove themselves a friend of the Zora; the Great Eagle Bow is gifted to Rito warriors who prove themselves worthy of wielding the bow used by the greatest Rito warrior to ever live (like the Rito have dialogue in BotW about how young Rito men are trained to be warriors from birth BECAUSE OF REVALI). BUT NAH they've been reduced to heirlooms now, passed down through the generations even though it clashes with lore in BotW and makes no Goddamn sense

Why didn't the ancient Sages have zonaite weapons if their entire TotK aesthetic was Zonai anyway?? Or just different unique weapons??? The Water Sage could've had a hookshot to drag Mucktorok across the arena after you'd gotten rid of its sludge shell, the Goron Sage could've had a hammer capable of breaking the marbled rock or at least doing extra damage to Marbled Gohma (breaking the marbled rock would render Yunobo redundant until Gohma got up on the ceiling in the second phase and you have to roll Yunobo up the wall again), and the Gerudo Sage could've had a spinning top thing for improved mobility in the Queen Gibdo fight (like the Spinner in Twilight Princess). The Wind Sage could've kept his bow, but make it a different model that isn't a self-portrait of a character that won't even exist until over 10,000 years into the future. These weapons could have been like the One-Hit Obliterator challenge where we could only use them inside the temples, it would've been a fun way to switch up gameplay for the temples and would've explained why we'd never seen them in the world before. Just SOMETHING that doesn't cheapen the Champions' weapons

BackgroundNPC1213

I mean, that could've maybe been Lilith's job (I use "job" loosely here, she could have taken this role upon herself). Keeping Sinners who got too confident in themselves away from Lucifer so as to not risk his secret getting out if the confrontation turned physical, but then she left, and he went into hiding due to depression but also because he didn't have his guard dog anymore

(this ran long again, whoops)

Personal interpretation:
All the other Zelda games comprise the Era of Myth, and happened so far back in the timeline as to become myths and legends. The Zonai emerged as a race after the end of the three-branched timeline of previous games; Hylia is theorized to be the Goddess of Time mentioned in Majora's Mask, so I theorize that Hylia mended the three disparate timelines into one unified timeline sometime between the collapse of Old Hyrule and the emergence of the Zonai, which is why both BotW and TotK contain references to games across all three timelines

The old Hyrule collapsed, there was an indeterminate amount of time when Hylia was mending the timelines (IMO the first Hyrule Warriors is canon in this timeline), and after the timeline was stabilized was when the Zonai emerged as the next "chosen" race (possibly descendants of the Hylians of Skyloft who never left the sky, which would explain why the Zonai are genetically compatible enough with Hylians on the surface to be capable of breeding with them). The TotK Master Works timeline has them descending from the skies to live on the surface and intermingle with the races already there, including any Hylians that survived the collapse of the old Hyrule and the merging of timelines, but it's been so long that none of them remember the existence of an old Hyrule except in legends (probably passed down via oral tradition, so some details become murky with each new retelling)

The Zonai mined the Depths while living on the surface, building all the structures we see down there in TotK. There's direct in-game evidence that the Depths themselves change to reflect changes on the surface, so the fact that all of the Zonai structures in the Depths are all largely still intact means that they were relatively undisturbed + the Depths were relatively unchanged since those structures were built (the river through Gerudo Canyon and the lake on Mabe Prairie both didn't exist in BotW, but both have a corresponding impassable wall in the Depths; the geoglyph map depicts Central Hyrule as a wetland in the past, but it's traversable in the modern-day). At some point, probably early on in the existence of the Zonai race (based on the prevalence of dragons in their architecture + the reverence for them), the three Zonai attendants to the springs swallowed their Secret Stones to become the elemental dragons, to watch over their springs for eternity; their original names were lost to time and they were given new names, after the patron Goddess of the spring they each oversaw, but those three Goddesses were also forgotten over time in favor of the one Goddess who was active in the Wild Era, Hylia (in-game dialogue confirms Hylia is active during the Wild Era games, she was the one who turned the Horned God into the Horned Statue and then moved him between games; she's also the only Goddess named in dialogue, and NPCs invoke "the Goddess", not "gods/goddesses"). The elemental sets are all Zonai-made, each has an ability that activates in the weather conditions each dragon causes when it comes near, and their descriptions say they were "ceremonial"; these sets were probably used in rituals at the Springs, under the watchful eye of the Spring Guardians and as a way to honor those Guardians as quasi-deities in their own right

Then the Zonai ascended to the Heavens, per the TotK Master Works timeline, where their race thrived for a while (the Dive Ceremony islands are a coming-of-age ceremony for Zonai youths that would have been impossible while the Zonai were still living on the surface, and the Story of the Stormwind Ark details a "god" (a Zonai) falling from "the heavens" (the sky islands), being returned there by the Rito of that era, and then gifting the Rito with the Stormwind Ark; the story also details the existence of a cloud barrier shielding the sky islands from view and the "god" using Ultrahand and/or Autobuild, calling it "a strange power" that assembled new boats from a pile of materials). The Zonai race declined for some unknown reason, until Rauru and Mineru were the only ones left. Or at least, they were the only ones who came down to the surface; other Zonai could have stayed up on the sky islands and died up there, but Ganondorf's dialogue in the original Japanese during A Show of Fealty makes it clear that, by that time, the Zonai are extinct except for Rauru and Mineru

Then Rauru founds a new kingdom and calls it Hyrule, but there were apparently already Hylians living on the landmass. Sonia is described as a "Hylian priestess", the Zonai Ruins in Faron are stated by Calip to be older than the ruins falling from the sky, and the Springs already existed, so there was already a civilization on the surface when Rauru established New Hyrule (the descendants of those who lived during the last time the Zonai were on the surface and having kids with Hylians, explaining why all the Hylians we see in the flashbacks still have the long ears). Messages from an Ancient Era, the quest where you find all the sky tablets, says that Rauru and Sonia created the shrines after Hyrule was founded, because the landmass that would become New Hyrule was plagued by monsters even before Ganondorf became the Demon King (also tracks, since we see the molduga swarm in a memory and Ganondorf's whole issue with Rauru is how his reign makes Hyruleans "weak"; Rauru did away with the monsters plaguing Hyrule which meant that Hyruleans no longer had to fight for their lives on a regular basis)

Also in the flashbacks, you can see glimpses of the map in the background, and there are A TON of landmarks that are almost identical to how they appear in the modern-day, which would absolutely not be possible if the entire map had shifted into the shape it took in other games. To name a few: the blue cliffs of Lanayru, the red plateaus of Faron and Gerudo Highlands, the Pillars of Levia, Lake Kolomo, Taobab Grassland, Death Mountain, the Great Plateau itself, and the cave that would become the Shrine of Resurrection (visible behind Sonia in An Unfamiliar World). The geoglyph map in the Forgotten Temple is also a near 1:1 representation of the modern TotK map, with the most notable exceptions being that Central Hyrule is a giant wetland and the Dueling Peaks aren't split yet, but the locations of the tears are still accurate to their modern-day locations, and those tears were only dropped after the Imprisoning War in the Founding Era. The geoglyph map plus the landscape visible in the memories, plus the fact that Ganondorf is still sealed at the beginning of TotK (Hyrule Castle itself is part of the seal on him and it's straight-up destroyed in the Adult Timeline + potentially damaged when Hyrule is flooded during Wind Waker in the Child Timeline) points to this Hyrule's landscape being unchanged since the Founding Era. Other landmarks like the island that Rito Village sits on and the spiral of Rist Peninsula would have flat-out not survived any shifts in the landscape, but they're present on the geoglyph map and in the modern-day (and both still house a Zonai-made mine in the Depths under them, which would have been destroyed when the surface above them changed)

Refounding just presents a lot less logical and lore contradictions. There's still weirdness like the Ranch Ruins in Hyrule Field being a near 1:1 copy of OoT's Lon Lon Ranch, but that's easily handwaved as that just being a good layout for a ranch

BackgroundNPC1213

Abel's halo being bent meant to reference how he was killed by Cain smashing his head with a rock in the Biblical canon, but not dealing with the implications of that (Cain exists so where is he, Adam had kids with Eve so where is Eve, Abel died before Adam in the canon but Adam was stated to be "the first human soul in Heaven", what was Abel doing?)
