Thats essentially what modern gun culture boils down to. It's state protected funko pops for a bunch of dorks.

BandeFromMars

Maybe read the thread you're in then? How about that? Otherwise, shut the fuck up

BandeFromMars

These people love to say that's equitable and "fair". Because fuck renters and young people I guess.

BandeFromMars

Conservatives really like to think everyone in the country is just as deranged about immigration as they are. When you tell people something is a problem, maliciously try to "solve" it, and fumble hard, people are going to sour on you.

BandeFromMars

This is such a bad faith misunderstanding of what the person was saying its almost comical

Yeah, sure, because everyone at Dachau had equality before the law and access to lawyers and courts, right?

The rule of law in Germany at the time said that inmates at Dachau were not citizens, were not Germans, not even people, and should be killed. Even though many of these people were full citizens of their countries or citizens of Germany just a few years earlier.

Why should we have respect for "the rule of law" when it can be bastardized so badly? What is there to respect about that or slavery or Jim Crow, which were both "the rule of law" in the US? You do not have to respect a system that gets it wrong a surprisingly numerous amount of times, you work within the system and strive for justice.

I mean it's Windows platform. You can complain about it but idk what Qualcomm can do.

Not much they can do now but they pushed NPUs as the next big thing leading to this. Don't get me wrong, Microsoft deserves the majority of the blame here.

So they didn't say what you said they did.

Yes, they basically did

I can't seem to find the road map, maybe I missed it.

You did

"In short, our roadmap for the next six months includes work in these areas:

End-to-end hardware video decoding, on Firefox and Chrome

Implementation of the libcamera-SoftISP camera solution

GPU and CPU performance optimizations

Power optimizations (Suspend/DCVS)

Making our firmware openly available (in Linux-firmware)

Access to easy installers (Ubuntu and Debian)"

It's been more than 6 months and most of these are either half-assed or not happening.

Some Linux distros work also but you get abismal battery life

They actually do work in MacOS, they do get bad battery life but Apple never made all of these grand promises to the linux community. That's the key.

and saying MacOs is good enough for most people is really isn't saying much because you can also say Windows is good enough for most people.

MacOS isn't called MacOSlop and Apple isn't the one promising to address mountains of valid, years old complaints from Mac users because their OS has a bad reputation. Windows and Qualcomm just have not had a good showing.

BandeFromMars

Of all the companies in this space, why say that of Qualcomm? What specific action or statement of theirs do you take issue with?

It's not just the PC space, but the tech space in general that they have this attitude in. They've dominated android to the point that they generally think they own the premium segment.

They've done good there, but you can tell by the X elite's initial launch and the "Copilot+" feature exclusivity they had for months as well as how they've cast linux aside that they belive that they will be the defining windows chip maker at some point as well.

What?

That exclusivity then leads into this point. They weren't just some supplier, they were "the exclusive platform to power the next generation of Copilot+ PCs" according to their launch press release. The majority of the blame goes to Microsoft for shoving Copilot into literally everything on Windows, but Qualcomm certainly had a helping role pushing that garbage down our throats and shilling NPUs as a "need" in the PC space.

They were the ones who conveniently met the 40tops requirement to be an "AI PC" right out of the gate and hence led Intel and AMD to try and jump on as well. This isn't to excuse Intel specifically for acting like a garbage company for the past 20 plus years, but Intel sucking doesn't also absolve Qualcomm.

BandeFromMars

Where did they say that?

I actually misremembered, they thought they were going to get 60% of their partner's PC sales by 2027. The 30% was a market analysis prediction from Canalysis for total ARM PC marketshare.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/wccftech.com/snapdragon-chipsets-within-3-years-account-for-qualcomm-oem-60-percent-sales/amp/

Arm thought they would have 50% of the entire PC market by 2029. Delusional.

10% of $800+ Windows laptop sales in the USA specifically. Not of all PCs, or globally.

Thanks for the correction, that still makes those predictions look ridiculous.

Not only did ICE agents steal the teenager's phone, they sold it for cash at an electronic recycling machine close to the detention center. So destruction of evidence and dealing in stolen property. And we're supposed to believe they aren't a bunch of thugs and criminals with badges.

BandeFromMars

I wouldn't say its out of the realm of possibility that these people hate and place more blame on Biden than Bibi for the massacre unfolding in Palestine lmao.

BandeFromMars

That will literally never happen, its a tool good or bad that's useful for a lot of people especially those who are rich and in power. In a perfect society, everyone would be could and would be able to pay off any debt they have. We are not a perfect society by far.

BandeFromMars

Before 1976, you actually could declare bankruptcy and discharge student loans just like any other debt. Its been purposely made harder over the years with more and more hoops to jump through just because the government can.

So kinda stupid to assume the people you owe money to say you don't owe them anymore

That's the whole point of most forms of bankruptcy. If you can't pay at all that's the option you have.

BandeFromMars

What sort of bailout are student loan borrowers getting when they complain about our stupid student debt system? Can student loan borrowers declare bankruptcy like the rich can? I don't know if you realize this, but if you're already broke and barely scraping by, you can only change your lifestyle so much until any other changes become unreasonable or turns your life into just paying back a debt.

BandeFromMars

Are you listening to yourself? You're not outright saying everyone but you're functionally arguing that it is everyone. Why else would you try to gatekeep being frustrated with the student loan situation in this country? Why does anyone complaining about it have to prove their financial situation to you? What even is the point of asking? It's not like it's a rare thing.

BandeFromMars

Their point that there's always that one guy, aka you, that comes in acting sanctimonious to these threads about how not ordering avocado toast or whatever dumb garbage would be the difference between affording a 600 dollar a month student loan payment and not. Yeah, there's going to be some financially irresponsible people, but you have it in your head that it MUST be everyone who ever talks about struggling with student loan payments. Nobody has to prove anything to you or anyone else.

BandeFromMars

I love how the only reason you're in here is to essentially prove OP's point.

BandeFromMars

He is 100% an alcoholic. He only promised to stop drinking "if" he was confirmed to be the Secretary of Defense. I guarantee you that didn't happen.

you’re clearly behaving like an extreme partisan.

It's partisan to think people who voted to confirm a drunken racist to head the DOD have awful decision making skills and only voted for the guy because he was Trump's pick? Is this confirmation working out for them?

I already said he should step down.

I never insinuated that you didn't, I just find it ridiculous to think that senators who supported and confirmed Hegseth shouldn't be shamed for their awful choice.

BandeFromMars

Well that’s stupid

How? The guy is a perpetual drunk and a racist, why should someone like that hold any power over our military at all? It shows piss poor decision making and straight partisanship to even support the guy as a nominee. Every senator who voted for the clown should be called out.

BandeFromMars

100%, he might have ran it by Jim Beam too.

BandeFromMars

They were ok with throwing aways all of our fucking rights and internal security only to get the worst possible outcome for the Palestinian cause. We've gotta shame these fucking people for the rest of their miserable lives.

BandeFromMars

It was a blanket pardon/commutation that the ACLU had been petitioning for a while at this point. These were considered non-violent offenders that were on house arrest and were close to the end of their terms. Maybe activists should be more clear next time about what they want. Even if they're non-violent, the fact that someone is in federal prison probably means they did something bad, not just possess a small amount of Marijuana or steak a loaf of bread.

BandeFromMars

I mean, this is what activists and prison reform advocates say as well. The ACLU originally petitioned Biden to do this in the first place.

BandeFromMars

Let’s do the digging to see who and how this pardon was petitioned and landed on his desk.

It was petitioned for by the ACLU

They called legal Haitian immigrants cat and dog eaters dude. They're working on a denaturalization project as we speak. You're not safe either.

BandeFromMars

The government is using force to make us pay obscene amounts of money each month at the threat of wage garnishment if we can't. What's the difference? We're told going to college is important and the one thing we need to do to be successful in life but we're also going to fuck you over with debt you might not get out of.
