Hail the Jalter bringer

Beef410

Praise the reincarnation of CheetahSperm for he provides us with Jalter

This is fascinating to me as I've always been led to believe the brain doesn't finish developing until the early 20s.

Given that you'd think these rates would be higher. Do we know if there are stats for de-transitioning or regret that are delimited by the age of the person when they first transitioned?

Beef410

Liberal causes biggest enemy is perpetually low turnout. Winning a battle to lose the war would be a pyhrric victory.

This will be the least of your rights worries if Trump gets a second term and the GOP runs with project 2025.

Beef410

Watching to see how degenerate your art ends up being.

Don't resist SrGrafo, let it happen

Growing up in the American south and being on the skinny side it was a never ending harassment by fatass relatives and family friends about how I needed to eat more/etc.

The resulting unhealthy behavior in boys is celebrated as, "getting swole". It's a problem.

I have a Frankenstein headset which is composed of an AKG k240 and a mod-mic, both using TRS jacks.

I'm wanting to split the cables so I can have the 'headset' connected to both a desktop and a laptop dock. A TRS Y splitter works for the headphones but I haven't found any method to split the mic's output since using a Y TRS splitter doesn't seem to be working.

The overall goal is to feed the output/input to both the dock and the desktop at the same time and avoid needing two headsets.

Any thoughts?

Life uh, finds a way.

Texas of course. This makes a good exhibit for why abortion should be accessible. Irresponsible thots are gonna be thots, no need to have unwanted children born just to suffer.

Beef410

As a man, this just makes me more self conscious about approaching.

Beef410

Yea, because the right doesn't call people snowflakes and libtards.

Beef410

There is a significant difference between a threat that would not have likely been enforced presuming a reasonable nomination and actually carrying out said threat against a straight middle of the road nominee that Obama picked explicitly to be palatable to the GOP.

What Mitch did was a very large escalation of partisanship which can hardly be considered equal force or the high road.

Just like the ACA was an attempt at bipartisanship the GOP refused to engage in, Garland's nomination was another attempt at finding common ground. But at this point the GOP had spent 7 years telling their base Obama was literally the devil (remember the flak Christie got for a bro hug?) and had no real choice but to fight dirty or risk losing base support.

Beef410

Won't happen on either count. Trump is only going to nominate someone from the list he's given, like he did with Kavanaugh.

All I want from justice is someone who isnt blatantly political with a track record for an even hand, like Garland. As someone who leans liberal but isnt pink hat crazy I imagine my sentiments reflect many.

Beef410

Seriously citing this as a rule in a senatorial context is a joke, given the measure had never before been executed. Something having been used in a speech before is not typically considered grounds to cite as precedent as Mitch did.

Using the JB rule is a variant of the, "nuh-uh they came up with it first neener- neener" excuse. Which isnt a valid excuse for shitty behavior in kindergarten and shouldn't be considered a valid rationale for action in the Congress.

Beef410

Because holding the SCOTUS seat open for a year in the first place, against all precedent was the high road. We're only in this position due to the GOP operating in bad faith.

Edit: I'm getting many replies conflating the unrelated actions of Mitch's political play with Kavanaughs current women problems.

I have said in other replies that i think metoo is largely a bunch of nonsense that i disagree with. Innocent until proven guilty and respect for real victims is being undermined by it imo.

Beef410

Brush your tongue.

Beef410

The left's issue was with how the tax cuts were distributed. They went mostly to high-earners and the only parts of it that expire are the ones that affect the middle-class.

Beef410

I watch a lot of left-leaning media, MSNBC etc and don't recall ever hearing that.

Beef410

From what I can see the author, Paul Rosenzweig, is a conservative himself per his involvement with the R Street Institute. You can correct me if I'm wrong but I don't see anyone else who would be a 'left-wing' lawyer referenced.

Beef410

I don't know about that. Due to gerrymandering a lot of the GOP house members are hardliners who themselves drew support from the ride-or-die-Trumpers.

Being far right and denouncing Trump could cause their base to fall out from under them.

Beef410

Feeling shame because you're well outside the 'normal' for legitimate reasons, IE you're obese, is in no way a proper analogue to beating someone.

The former is normal and is inherently an internal emotion as you only feel shame when you know the critical judgements of you are accurate.

Beef410

Buddy had a minor traffic ticket for $25, the total cost he was liable for was like $238 the difference being court fees. It was a minor incident so he just went to the courthouse and had it dismissed but still the fee bloat is nuts.

Do we know, at least in LA's case, if these fees are justified for legitimate administrative overhead or has it become a revenue stream?

Beef410

The underlying issue is bad habit forming, and frankly societal acceptance of obesity. Eating shit and being inactive are bad habits that we basically encourage in the US.

Learning how to be active is part of building a healthy lifestyle along with proper diet. If you learn early in life the benefits of being in shape, you're less likely to let yourself become a fatty because you understand the costs to daily life of being obese vs always being obese and never knowing what being fit means.

'Diet' is a shitty word, in the US lexicon it has an implication of ending after meeting a goal. We need lifestyle changes, and the best way to affect these is in early childhood. Someone who knows what it's like to be able to push themselves athletically is more inclined to keep themselves away from obesity as they age.

People need motivation to not cave into the billions of dollars worth of research into food-as-a-drug from the shit-foods industry. IMO knowing what athleticism is at an early age and societal pressure are two of the best motivators.
