EMT-B is 150 hours of classroom training and months of on the job practical training, Paramedic courses range from anywhere between 600-1200 hours and also require months of field training.

Their job is far more than “driving” regardless of skill or certification level. I’m not offended, but you seem to be extremely upset I’ve pointed something out that you weren’t aware of. Do you works in the field? Are you aware of the actual demands or requirements for the job?

Not everything has to be intentionally offensive, but the fact remains, EMS providers are highly skilled professionals and calling them "ambulance drivers" while innocent is insulting. Their primary function is to provide lifesaving medical care in the field, just like firefighters and law enforcement officers provide their specific functions/services and yet, no one refers to them as drivers of the apparatus they use to respond to calls. I'm sorry that pointing this out upset you so much.

It was more of a tongue in cheek comment re. “Ambulance driver”, it’s a relatively demeaning term. They’re paramedics/EMTs who also drive ambulances, just as firefighters and cops are as such and also drive their respective vehicles.

To to your point, fire engines are actually easier to maneuver, as they’re cab over/in front of the axel but yes, they do require additional training in the sense that you have to prove the same proficiency on the day of your EVOC(emergency vehicle operating course) test day in the engine/truck (class 3 or 4) as well as the ambulance(class 2).

Police car drivers and fire engine drivers are bad too.

PHM jokes aside: Highly recommend finding a local coffee shop that makes proper espresso drinks. You’ll get the same amount of caffeine in a single cappuccino or flat white that you’ll get in these giant sugary drinks!
