Israel is a democracy, the ONLY functioning democracy in the Middle East. Why don't you just say "I hate Jews"?
BenedictBarimen
Why would anyone even want the Iranians to calm down? This is significantly better than any "deal" they could possible have reached, which would've kept the dictatorship alive. Now the dictatorship is going to cease to exist. Fuck deals.

Imagine asking in this day and age if a philosopher is heretical

Where are you morons getting your information from? He preferred ISLAM to Christianity!
BenedictBarimen
Sorry to tell you but you are the nutter here. Hitler removed the Old Testament from the Bible and most certainly did not get along with the Church. He persecuted the Protestant Churches and tried to bring them into the fold as much as he could. He wanted to destroy Christianity as much as he could.
Why would he care about Christianity, anyway? As far as he was concerned it was a Jewish invention, and one that ‘diluted’ the ‘warrior spirit’ of the Germanic race or whatever.

Feudalism was vastly preferable to what happened afterwards.

Nah we do have a problem with Lenin. I hope him and Stalin rot in hell for all eternity.

It’s easier to assume that she doesn’t really care and is only crying so she can get more roles from Hollywood or something.
BenedictBarimen
Does not sound far removed from how WW2 started, actually.
BenedictBarimen
Oh please. Illegal immigrants and Jews during Nazi Germany aren’t the same topic at all.

You and everyone else in this thread is reading way too much into this movie. It’s just a guy who’s fed up with life and finally snapped.

A nuclear powered ship, preferably a nuclear submarine or an aircraft carrier. You can fish for food, and you get water through the desalinization plants. You just gotta learn how to maintain the reactor and the plants, and stock up on nuclear fuel.
The US Navy used to have nuclear guided-missile cruisers, not sure if they are still functional. These could be useful for defense, just like submarines.

Russia takes over Europe if that happens. This would pretty much be a repeat of WWI and WWII, where the US did not intervene until later on. The US cannot fight Russia, China, AND Europe.
BenedictBarimen
Wasn't this more or less Germany's goal? Except for Ireland?
BenedictBarimen
Okay, fair enough, so you're not saying he's literally a puppet, but that Putin can manipulate him. I don't agree with that but at least that makes some sense. Still doesn't seem likely that the Russians would try something like this without there being an immediate ousting of the President followed by a declaration of war, but I digress.
BenedictBarimen
How about an early NATO with Britain and France?
BenedictBarimen
I'm unsure the "harshness" of the treaty was really that important a factor in the outbreak of WW2. If you compare what Germany went through after the Treaty of Versailles, apart from the forced disarmament, the treaty was actually quite mild in comparison to what Germany demanded from Russia after they forced them out of the war.
It would've been better if the Allies had supported the newly-independent Eastern European countries against the Soviets much harder, a stronger Eastern Europe would be a deterrent to both Germany and the Russians.

Note that Woodrow Wilson was anti-German even during 1914, at the very start of the war, to the point where he privately confided to Colonel House (an American ambassador, who had talks with both Imperial Germany and Great Britain) that he was very nearly prepared to condemn the German people as a whole (mainly for the "Rape of Belgium" during August/September 1914).
But for whatever reason, he decided the US was best served by merely supplying and financing the Entente war effort instead of joining the fray. Had Theodore Roosevelt been elected in 1912, it is possible the US would've joined the war earlier, as Roosevelt was very pro-Allies and anti-German and a staunch interventionist.

The League of Nations if anything was a bad thing. It invited the aggressor nations like Italy and Japan into it and its "security enforcement principle" was even vaguer than the UN's. Did the League of Nations even have a peacekeeping force?
Georges Clemenceau wanted an alliance with the United States and Great Britain at the end of World War I. Woodrow Wilson instead preferred the League of Nations, which the US did not even join. If the US had joined into a defensive alliance with Britain and France, perhaps WW2 would've been avoided. As it stands, all Wilson did was dismantle the Austro-Hungarian Empire, which might not have been a good thing at all; a relatively strong nation to Germany's south could've been preferable to the myriad nations which emerged and were very weak.

Ignore the fact that its Trump for a second and pretend its someone else. Do you realize how unlikely it would be for the President of the US to be a Russian puppet?
BenedictBarimen
It puts NATO farther away from Moscow.
BenedictBarimen
Finland was never part of the Soviet Union.
BenedictBarimen
I love it when otherwise normal posts are touting nonsense about Putin installing a puppet in the fucking UNITED STATES of all places. Yes I know y’all hate Trump but that’s just dumb…
BenedictBarimen
I think many people actually suspected it but people wanted to believe otherwise because it is more comfortable.
If America doesn't intervene, it's an insult to the rest of the NATO countries who intervened after 9/11.
