This game mode is basically what happens when someone on the dev team says "what if we had even more gambling?"
BevansDesign
I'm amazed that they're not trying to sell us variants for tokens yet. I wouldn't even mind that, as long as the price was decent.

I'm tired of constant events, and I especially don't like Deadpool's Diner because of the point system it uses. So I'm skipping it.
And I don't like how time-intensive it is to earn enough points in the reward stores for each of these events. I don't have hours each day to dedicate to this game, or any game. In the previous event, I didn't even get a chance to earn enough points to buy anything.

It's annoying, but they're in the business of selling ephemeral cards and JPEGs (or at least pulls at the slot machine arm to win them) and it's just easier to get people excited about Wolverine or Deadpool than it is to get them excited about characters they're never heard of like Ajax and Copycat.
I'd rather see them continue to pull obscure characters from their vast library of characters, but I understand why they don't want to.

There's basically only one reason to use a carousel: to appease people with more decision-making power than you.
When you look at the actual numbers, clickthrough rates are abysmal after the first slide. I built promotions for the carousel at the top of the homepage of a mid-size ecommerce site for over 10 years, and wound up collecting plenty of data showing how it was mostly a waste of time to have more than one slide, but we just kept doing it anyway.

It's definitely a cool concept, and I'd love to see them produce more like this, but overall it's not quite my thing. (And that's ok.)
I don't understand why there's an astronaut with a metal detector on the beach though.
BevansDesign
Well, it's a huge set. They release a lot of different sets at different price levels.
BevansDesign
Did you try searching for it on your own first? That's a good way to find things.

One of those experimental inventions that would revolutionize the medical field, but only one person has it, and they didn't bother to make more.
I know it's just a "comic thing" and shouldn't put too much thought into it, of course.
BevansDesign
I haven't seen this since I was a kid, and I saw it in the theater when it was released. The trolls scared the hell out of me.
BevansDesign
I would argue that many of them are better than the name-brand versions. A lot of the big names have been cutting quality in the past decade or two. The Malt-O-Meal versions of Frosted Flakes and Frosted Mini-Wheats are definitely better. (And don't get me started on Nabisco products, which have all become mealy and brittle.)

Heinlein said it best: "Man is not a rational animal; he is a rationalizing animal".

Are the colors in the app actually tied to the state of the trees? I know that data is available from various Departments of Natural Resources in the US. Or is it just a generic "autumn" state that gets triggered automatically?
It'd be really interesting to see if they do snow on the trees in winter.

I wonder if they can make this tech work without sending the data across the internet. There's a lot of new brain-scanning tech being worked on right now that relies heavily on using AI to process the sensor data. (The AI could be installed on your own machine of course, as long as it's powerful and fast enough.)
I absolutely don't trust the companies making this stuff not to sell every bit of data they harvest, but sending the data to them for processing may be unavoidable - in which case I'll just keep typing with my fingers.
BevansDesign
Yeah, we're pretty much only worried about the data center companies that are being sneaky about it. If there's nothing bad about them, they don't need to be sneaky.
Also, can we not give the massive corporations tax breaks and other handouts? They can pay for this stuff just fine on their own. That's called capitalism, and it's the religion we've chosen for this nation of ours, so we might as well adhere to it.

Once again modders add a feature that should've been in the base game from the start!
Seriously, having buildings that adapt to the shape of the lot was one of the things I wanted most in CS2, and I was very disappointed when it didn't have it (or much of anything else).

It's always cool when you see that two huge historical figures knew each other. There's a part of my brain that goes "OMG CROSSOVER!" whenever I see it.
BevansDesign
Damn, he'd be amazing as Orion. That's pretty much perfect.
BevansDesign
Because they're farming karma points.
BevansDesign
Maybe they're deliberately pretending to ignore you so you keep making these.
BevansDesign
It's a bug. Just remove the Reach Stacker Garage upgrade.
Good luck fixing that trash problem too. That's also a bug. (Build a road next to the trash cans.)
BevansDesign
All I see in them is love and understanding for the other
We also get a ton of that in the Harry Potter books too. Rowling writes with such love and appreciation of people who are odd, different, and outsiders. And that's why it's so baffling that she became such a rampant transphobe. It's like the Ninja Turtles coming out against pizza.

Nothing is certain, but unless there was something noticeably wrong with the vehicle, I wouldn't worry about that at all. That sounds just fine to me.
Might I recommend a AAA membership? It's actually pretty cheap, and it's nice knowing that you have that extra level of support if you need it. My parents have been buying it for me every year since I started driving (in the late 90s) so I've always had it.
BevansDesign
I know it makes me sound old when I say this, but for fuck's sake, learn to turn your phones sideways. You have muscles in your wrists that allow you to do this easily!
Vertical video is awful. It's only good for showing talking heads, when nothing in the background matters. For everything else, horizontal is better. We live in a world where most things happen horizontally (because of gravity). With vertical video, everything happening to the sides is cut off, and you see way more of the sky and ground, which is usually not useful. (And I'm not saying there aren't exceptions.)
The snarkiness is what really got to me. I read Starter Villain with him narrating, and I thought it was weird that he read it like that. Does he always read with snarky inflections (or whatever)?
