Most people if they took a hard look at the parties they support, they would find it lacking in some form. I would at least hope so. I catch a bit of flack for saying its OK to be libertarian light. I suspect that your thought processes align with more people than you realize. Its just so many of those people are consumed with picking a "winner". Once you start caring less about winning, and are moreso concerned with getting representation, you will find it refreshing and dissapointing.

I mean, what’s wrong with people being deemed responsible enough to vote? I grew up around civic engagement, so I’m not against voting at all, and everyone in my personal life takes it seriously. But I think there should be more to the process than just showing up and checking a box.

If it’s a local election or a basic ballot initiative, I get it. Those are important but less likely to have sweeping consequences. But when it comes to national elections or major policy votes that affect millions? Yeah, jump through some hoops if you want that kind of influence.
