And yet it is perfectly fine to tell someone to uproot their family and move them to a high cost city where the salary/wage offered is effectively the same as they would have been paid for the same work in a lower COL market.

BootlegFC

People may surprise you.

BootlegFC

Something tells me these people still aren't learning all the necessary lessons. He's worried because he's seen what can be done for under $10M in lower cost markets but they still don't want to consider moving the business out of places like Seattle and Orlando. Cutting costs doesn't always mean reducing the headcount.

Already working I see

The old face does look a bit long but other than that it was fine. Isn't the character supposed to be somewhat aged, as in thirties to early forties, after they lost a century when they ejected the escape pod and flew off in the ship to draw the attackers away? May have some memories wrong, it's been awhile since I watched any of the videos or otherwise checked up on the game.

Just in time for NNN

BootlegFC

It runs faster than it used to but they haven't added any new features. Why is this something worthy of announcement, much less trying to take shots at the 800lb gorilla in the room?

BootlegFC

It's been around since before Discord existed IIRC. Most people forget it exists because it is one place where Steam has always had the inferior product, but then their competition in that space was always dedicated streaming services like Twitch, Youtube, etc.

It's been a while since my last playthrough but as I recall you mainly nuked their supply lines/staging points, not the core of either civilization. Neither faction was completely done in but their ability to bring force and influence to bear on the Mojave was severely reduced.

People would have still complained about being railroaded but it would have made far more sense to gate companions out during the final battle rather than giving them nonsensical excuses for why they shouldn't do it or calling you a coward for sending immune companions instead of stepping into a certain death room yourself.

Heck, they could have had a last stand moment where Enclave special forces breach the room so there's no time to ask a companion to do this task.

BootlegFC

The ending makes complete sense in a closed loop, but misses the fundamental fact that people playing a video game want to play the game, and they want agency.

Probably one of these best shortform analyses of the problem I've read.

BootlegFC

And the overwhelmin majority of them are never seen unless someone specifically goes looking for them. Steam also has user ratings averaged and posted front and center as well as reviews shown at the bottom of the page.

BootlegFC

Thank you for failing to read and comprehend the full argument.

I haven't played many but I love the fact that co-op is making a comeback after the industry spent so long trying to milk every last cent out of people live service microtransaction machines and esport wannabes. Most of the time the people calling them "friendslop" are pvp sweatlords.

BootlegFC

We don't have to nuke the industry, they're doing an adequate job of that themselves. All we as consumers have to do is not buy products we don't want.

BootlegFC

Exactly. Sometimes the weakened and sick must be allowed to die off in order that either the survivors can rebuild or others can rise in their place. The industry is ever shifting between extremes. The crash of the '80s was largely due to shovelware resulting from the publishers relinquishing control but the relinquishment of control was what had allowed the industry to boom prior to the crash. Atari was almost wiped out, but because of their loss we saw the rise of Nintendo, Sega, and eventually Sony and Microsoft as well as numerous new studios.

If the modern game companies have so crippled their reputations that they cannot recover then new companies will step in and take their places. Some will be founded by those let go, some will be founded by newcomers, but eventually we will see new household names rise from the ashes of the old.

BootlegFC

What do you think they create the game on? PCs The reason they release on consoles while holding back on PC is for marketing and bonuses from the console manufacturers and because it is easier to optimize for consoles that have uniform hardware across install bases.

BootlegFC

More like if an automated tool can do the job half as well in a quarter the time with little to no noticeable difference in quality.

BootlegFC

It used to be cutthroat. It is slowly returning to being so.

BootlegFC

More like "Wait you 're telling me the games most of us weren't yet employed for more than a decade ago didn't justify our continued employment?"

BootlegFC

Funny thing, when companies release products that consumers want, consumers purchase them.

BootlegFC

Two franchises which last had major releases more than a decade ago? The "MMOs" don't count as they weren't developed by the main studio. I enjoy Starfield but I have little illusion about it's ability to carry the studio until ES6 is developed and released.

Businesses, especially behemoths like MS, exist to make money. Studios that fail to release products on a regular enough basis will always be under threat of downsizing or elimination, especially when the parent company is publicly traded.

Nope, talking about troops raised by a feudal lord from his own lands. While they were militia, they were also an army. Formations like the Roman Legions or Greek Phalanxes were the exception for much of history, not the rule.

Still pretty realistic considering the constraints of having the entire thing on an island. Walled cities are first and foremost about defensibility. Elbow room and comfort for inhabitants tends to come second
