We had we had these at Costco in New Hampshire . Went back for more this week and was told they were only a seasonal item over the holidays. Bummer.

Hello everyone. Today I purchased the R5 2500U 8GB 256GB model at B.B. I had originally intended to get the new Lenovo YOGI Intel i5 730 but the sales guy on B.B. suggested this one instead. I paid $599 so I think I got a good deal. Student discount for my granddaughter going off to school. I have not taken it out of the box yet.

After reading numerous postings here about battery life, freezes, throttling, and heat, I am a little nervous about this laptop. I also note that most of the postings were made just after this product hit the street and it has appeared to have quieted down. My question to this group is:

  1. Have the issues that were originally identified been cleared up for the most part by released of drivers and firmware?
  2. After some use by those here, has battery life stabilized. I saw some postings of 1.5 hours under hard use. That’s just not acceptable. Did the new BIOS fix that? What are folks getting for average battery life with mixed use? The Len os gets around 7, and that’s low for the class as I understand it.

Any help is appreciated. I don’t have any issue with doing the upgrades if they fix the issues that were originally identified, but would rather just take it back and exchange it for the Lenovo if they have had minimal impact.

I acknowledge that individual usage and situations are different but am looking for the comfort spot before opening the box.
