Ah Right. Forgot the Bonneville is inverted. With a normal layout and the chain on the left this works great. I don’t know if it’s possible to press the brake pedal while it’s dismounted and you’re holding it in your hand, but it might be worth a try. Or just do the wraparound thing with the old chain, axles are very thick and sturdy, it seems unlikely you’re gonna bend it

Don’t make it more complicated than it has to be. Just put on the new rear sprocket, install the rear wheel and and install the new chain. Then you can put the bike in gear and apply the rear brake to keep the transmission from turning so you can loosen the nut and then install the new front sprocket. Voila you’re done.
I have done three chain replacements just using the rear brake and transmission and it’s worked great every time, no need for complicated hacks with nuts and bolts through the chain

I ran my trident restricted for a few months until I turned 24. In my opinion it worked very well and felt very natural, not neutered or anything, just like a less powerful bike. I have it unrestricted for about four and a half years now and while I still absolutely love my trident I am currently trying to sell it. But that’s only because I also have a KTM 890 SMT since last year and that’s just way more comfortable for me because I am quite tall.

Grüezi!

2021 Trident 660 with 46.500 km on the clock. I filled up oil once in the first year because it was right at the minimum and I was nervous it might dip below. Never topped up since, the level always stayed right where it was after I got it back from the workshop when they did oil changes.

I would argue that if you are regularly and on purpose pushing your tires up to their traction limit on public roads you are unfit to ride on public roads. Modern tires are just so good that they all manage well enoughand if you are riding in a way that any of these top of the line tires can’t keep up with you should think if that’s not better suited to the track.

What I’ve noticed is that as I wrote previously to me it seems like in faster corners the Conti is more stable (better at keeping a specific lean angle without constant correction from the rider) while at the same time feeling more natural / easier to turn into a corner. And also the tire looks less abused after a spirited ride. All of those things combined make me think I am further away from the tires limit because it just handles everything so nonchalantly.

At the same time I’m just some random dude on the internet so no one should put to much weight into what I say. From my experience within my friend group, tires are pretty subjective anyways. So just try out a bunch of different ones and see what you like it’s not like they last very long anyways so there should be ample opportunity to switch to a different one if you don’t like a specific model

I can only compare Road 5 and RoadAttack 4 I’ve gone through about five sets of each. The Conti definitely handles sporty riding better than the Michelin, I would say both are perfectly adequate for sporty street riding but it feels like the Conti has more reserves, the tire compound is definitely stickier and the way the rubber looks after a few kms of hard riding also seems like it is better suited for sporty riding on twisty roads where the tires get a lot of temperature. The Conti also seemed more agile to me while at the same time being more stable at higher lean angles.
I never tried the Road 6 as by the time it came out I was very happy with the RoadAttack 4 but from what I’ve heard Michelin went more in the touring direction with that so it is probably positioned even further away from the Conti than the Road 5 was.

Cap_Ca

By Contiattack do you mean the RoadAttack or SportAttack? Because I run RoadAttacks and get about 6000 km out of a rear, I would be quite surprised if the SportAttack lasts just as long

Cap_Ca

That’s a good idea. Event though I don’t think it’s Torx plus in this case because the toolset included with the bike only contains normal Torx bits.

Cap_Ca

Did he get it out somehow?

Cap_Ca

Don’t think so. A T25 fit perfectly T27 wouldn’t go in

Cap_Ca

Funnily enough I checked the torque spec for the bolts on the front break and the spec for those is only 10 Nm even though they are both M8 ant T25

Cap_Ca

Yes but I didn’t put anti seize on. And even if I did, it wouldn’t matter to the tool because 22 Nm is 22 Nm. Only the threads might get damaged because with putting any lubrication on the threads the bolt goes in further for any given amount of torque and so it stretches further than it is meant to.

They did spec it to that torque unless I somehow interpreted this simple instruction wrong. In that case I would be happy to learn

Cap_Ca

The cam out is from me trying to get the bolt out again by putting another Torx on top and then slipping because it doesn’t go in far enough

Cap_Ca

What is TP?

Cap_Ca

Bad bits probably. I tried a T30 and T27 first but they wouldn’t fit so I used the T25 and that fit perfectly, so I’d say it’s the right size

Cap_Ca

Luckily my torque wrench doesn’t even have a scale in anything else but Nm, that was the first thing I checked :)

Cap_Ca

What are you talking about? You can even see in the photo that the broken off part of the bit fits perfectly and it’s a T25. I know that M8 threads usually use larger bits, that’s exactly the point I am trying to make. But a T30 doesn’t fit into the bolt head and a T25 fits perfectly

Cap_Ca

Definitely learned a lesson here and will go and buy some higher quality bits after the weekend

Cap_Ca

Nope the manual specifically says to use medium strength loctite

Cap_Ca

The threads themselves are M8 so should take 22 Nm without problem. The screw went in perfectly fine, wasn’t cross threaded or anything. Just snapped off the bit before reaching specified torque. It’s also very annoying because it seems like the bolt head is large enough to fit a much larger Torx but KTM or J. Juan just decided they didn’t want to

Cap_Ca

Nope normal Torx without a hole. I thought they weren’t anything crazy high quality, but I would have thought they were good enough for normal stuff
