If you could get AI training that actually saves you hours, how would you want to learn it? (self.TimeManagement) [Question]

I use AI to create a client brief before I call along with suggested talking points.

Love this thread as it is giving me ideas for my own swag for my upcoming fantasy trilogy!

I use a combination. First, I already have a prioritized to-do list for each project. Second, I have a set block of time for each project where I work on the to-do list for each project in priority sequence.

Interesting. It is very difficult to search across multiple platforms like that. I wonder if AI could do that if you integrate it? I have my AI integrated with my email, calendar, and CRM so I can often use it to find out info about a client or projects without search separately for it myself.

My Goals this week:
- Publishing: Finish editing my fantasy novel and work on getting it ready for publishing (follow me at https://garlandcoulson.com to know when it is released)
- Outreach: Start reaching out to career colleges to offer my AI training and AI curriculum modules
- Personal: Finish cleaning up the yard and doing my winter home prep

My approach is to have an "Admin" block of time where I do all the small 2-minute tasks and finish as many of them in my 25-miniute Admin Pomodoro block.

I just post my personal thoughts about writing and publishing. Don't worry about intros as you don't have a following yet. I am using Substack for my author's blog and link to my Substack blog from my website.

Most small publishing firms I have seen are more like vanity publishing. They print your books and may offer editing services, but don't offer a lot of marketing.

Sending them a pdf is common.

My name is Garland Coulson. I published a non-fiction book called "Stop Wasting Time" in 2019 and it can be found on Amazon.
I am currently writing a fantasy trilogy. The first book is written and is in proofreading and editing. The second book in the trilogy is 90% written. This trilogy will be self-published.
I am planning another fantasy trilogy after this one and then a scifi trilogy after that. I have a dedicated time block each week for writing with a writing goal of 5,000 words per week and additional time blocks for the publishing part.

I just wrote an article on the topic of writer's block that will come out next week. First a quote from Steven King that may seem harsh, but I think helps us get the right mindset.
“Amateurs sit and wait for inspiration, the rest of us just get up and go to work.”
— Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft
Here are some of the ideas I offered for overcoming writer's block.
- Dedicated Writing Time Blocks:
- Letting Go of Perfection:
- Outline and Ideation:
- Clarify The Scene’s Purpose
- Pick a Different Scene:
- Write a Character Card:
- Ask AI for Ideas:
- Inspiration from Books and Other Sources:
The article goes into more details for each, but you get the idea. Not all ideas might fit your situation, but hopefully some of them might help.

I'm Garland Coulson, known online as "Captain Time." I'm the moderator and community builder for r/TimeManagement where I spend a lot of my time helping people cut the busywork and actually get their hours back.
Off Reddit, I'm an AI-productivity and time-management keynote speaker and corporate trainer. For 25+ years I've been helping people work smarter, not harder — these days that means pairing solid time-management fundamentals with practical AI tools like Claude and Gemini. I run keynotes, lunch & learns, and team training for associations and organizations.
I wrote the Amazon best-seller Stop Wasting Time, but most of what I share here is just the stuff that actually works — automating the tasks that drain you, protecting your focus, and freeing up real time for the work (and life) that matters.
Happy to answer questions on time management, productivity, AI workflows, or building a community. That's why I'm here.
If you're interested in AI and productivity tips, I'd love to have you in my inner circle. You can subscribe at https://captaintime.com/inner-circle/
And if fantasy and science fiction are your thing, I'm also on a writing journey! Follow along at garlandcoulson.com to hear about my upcoming books. ⚔️🚀
Looking forward to having you part of my community!

Can you put it in beef stew? I used my air fryer to create beef jerkey and it turned out great. My air fryer at the time had a dehydrate setting.

Still set a time block even if it is a side hustle. Perhaps 1 hour after supper each day or for 2-3 hours on a Saturday or Sunday morning.

Not a streaming service, but I have been rebuilding my DVD library of movies an TV show seasons by going regularly to thrift shops and garage sales. This gives me a nice selection of shows I want to watch where I don't have to pay anyone a ever-increasing subscription fee every month.
