The way this subreddit works is that you submit an unedited photo and people submit photoshops in the comments. We do not take premade work.

Technically low quality images are not preferred here. Low resolution pics make poor bases for photoshop battles, as they limit the quality of work that can be produced.

Images that are already photoshopped are not preferred as the basis for a photoshop battle.

Including yours.

Yes, that is the point. To insert the conversation into a space where those that haven't otherwise have been involved can see and a visible reminder to those choosing to run business as normal.

Supporting Reddit's changes isn't the play here.

This doesn't need to be black and white. We're on the same side. Condescending protesting that isn't in line with your preference isn't going to help.

Disruption of normal is the goal here. It's low value for advertisers being on a page criticising the platform with blank images. It also sends a message to the admins and investors that the community is against this.

Captain_McFiesty

Sorry guys, this just turned to name calling.

It's fine to have a discussion about why this user is right or wrong in their opinion and their protest of our protest but it's just going off the rails.

Captain_McFiesty

Reddit has been promising better mod tools and mod communication for as long as I have been a moderator here.

We are not against reddit implementing a fee for premium API usage. The timeline and cost are the issue. This is a deliberate move to kill the competition in the app market and disguising it as anything else is underhanded.

Captain_McFiesty

That may well work for the more active user that actually clicks through to the subreddit, but the larger casual base will only see a different collection of subreddits on their front page.

Maybe with this we can try and reach out to a different demographic that hasn't paid attention to this issue.

The other side of the issue is that reddit can and will reactivate any subreddit it chooses on the claim of inactivity. We're still active - we're just modifying our rules.
