Then European men mostly royalty started associating it as a symbol of power and started wearing them.. and just like the later stories of women appropriating male clothing and equipment to feel "manlier" and "powerful" (just like jeans, cigarettes, crop tops, short hair), women started wearing heels.

Men slowly moved away from heels because of impractical nature in physically demanding jobs... Women stuck with because they were less likely to work physically demanding jobs. (Just before you say.."but but.. women also worked demanding jobs like farming, househelp etc"...
