The Expanse, Neuromancer (and the subsequent in-universe novels), the Fallout universe

Blind subservience sounds exactly how political extremists act. It really is no different than religion for some.

Every generation will tell you they are in end stage capitalism. I've been hearing it for over 30 years in my own life. It's a lie. Capitalism like every system goes through cycles of ups and downs.

When no morals faces no consequences

This is why I'm for over funding the police. We expect them to be firearm trained, crisis managers, knowledgeable on the law and its fair application, skilled drivers, etc etc. All in six fucking months? No thanks. Police academies should minimum be on par with the requirements of a community college degree. Asking for two years of training is not unreasonable, and it gives the instructors more time to weed out people who have no business being there.

I remember seeing the video of the initial warrant presentation and entering the business. He couldn't have been more clear to not touch that particular snake. It almost felt deliberate on the part of those cops. They thought they were flexing and didn't realize how bad they fucked up.

A right is not a material good. That's an entitlement. If you can't accept that nuance you can't engage in good faith on this topic. Most of us have no issue with a certain level of entitlements, a social safety net if you will, but more and more people look to the government the effectively subsidize their immediate personal needs, and that's where you lose a lot of people in the middle ground.

Domain clash, domain amp. The possibility of using both at the same time as we saw with Sukuna since like Yuji, had access to two cursed techniques. We also don't really know what a Blood Manipulation domain expansion would entail.

But they are not synonymous to the actual medical procedure of abortion. There is a distinction between natural causes and willful choice.

ChalkAndIce

If you're willing to operate under the premise that people who hold different opinions than you must have been brainwashed or misled to believe them, then you in turn are equally susceptible to that logic as well. There's zero reason to believe that you're somehow immune to that outside conditioning, or that you're less 'brainwashed' than anyone else.

Yet a majority of billionaires who donated in the last presidential election gave their money to democrats. Make it make sense.

ChalkAndIce

Look, another clown that genuinely believes two parties both magically reversed their stances. The major shifts took place after the turn of the century, over the course of decades. And it was not their core ideologies that changed but the coalitions of voters they appealed to.

ChalkAndIce

I genuinely think many more can think for themselves, it's just a lot of people don't want to. Swallowing down a preferred narrative is a lot easier than critically thinking about policy, morality, economics, etc.

ChalkAndIce

He doesn't nor should he or any other celebrity, which is why the posters in this thread frothing over him not saying what they want are equally unable to read the room. The political opinions of detached wealthy celebrities should have no weight to anyone who can think for themselves.

Dated a nurse, known many others. Getting them in and keeping them in the field has been an ongoing problem for sometime now. While this current administration hasn't made that easier, laying this problem solely at their feet feels like a pretty dishonest narrative.

ChalkAndIce

"Our heatwave is their AC temperature" was a pretty brutal way to cut straight through the nonsense.

ChalkAndIce

Why what metric? They already carry almost half the tax burden, and that's just the top 1%. Not everyone in that group is a billionaire either. The top 50% pays almost 97% of the total tax bracket, meaning the bottom half of the country is effectively contributing nothing that would be missed.

If you want to close loopholes and change how they can borrow against assets I think that approach has a lot more traction, but just raising income tax is kind of a non-starter.

ChalkAndIce

What the fuck is this pointless whataboutism? School shootings have absolutely nothing to do with not endangering people operating vehicles.

ChalkAndIce

I'm a liberal moderate and FDR was awful.

Treatments for ectopic pregnancies are not medically considered an abortion. Also no state currently has legislation that restricts care in this case. In states that do have ban for abortions, there has been concern and delays amongst medical practitioners when prescribing treatment for cases of ectopic pregnancies because of legal interpretations.

ChalkAndIce

Per the IRS the top 1% pay an average income tax of around 23%, which totals to roughly 40% of all total income taxes collected. Your statement is completely false and it didn't take more than seconds to verify. You can dislike billionaires or anyone wealthier than you, but deliberately spreading misinformation doesn't aid your argument.

ChalkAndIce

The above poster is saying talk is cheap, actions have cost. All these virtue signaling celebrities ever really do is talk, and yet they get applauded for being 'so brave.' Putting yourself in the shit to stand for a cause you claim to care about is what should actually be celebrated. Not getting on a soap box from an insulated Hollywood mansion and telling others to do more.

ChalkAndIce

No one sane ever saw that and thought "yeah, I can squeeze through that"

ChalkAndIce

Wasn't the development of the basketball domain a result of his understanding the nature of the prison realm and utilizing that against an open domain?

ChalkAndIce

Holy man hating projection. Isn't it men that protect you from other men? Fundamentally refuting your point that men carry some inherent evil in their hearts.
