Having been that housekeeper before, in situations like those, we are fully aware of the 75743 things that will make our boss blow up, and they expect us to be the one to put out a million fires before they even smell smoke. Believe me, we didn’t think that’s what we were signing up for either.

All the supervisors care about is metrics. If each butler is assigned X number of rooms, the supers expect the butlers to be hands on at all times. If they see staff meandering or engaging in anything that looks like downtime, they assume the butlers aren’t doing their jobs, despite guests wanting to be left alone. Your best bet is to leave good feedback for staff when warranted, and send any feedback regarding “the system” to management/corporate.

I had a similar experience with Schwabb months ago after successfully & easily DRSing for years before.

They can fire you for any reason AS LONG as it is not illegal, which retaliation is.

Idk, I think corporations have taken good notice of the decline in consumer spending and increased debt. It may be a race to see who can have the best prices to regain consumer market share.

I recruit in this industry and “housekeeper” has become an ambiguous job title and is not consistent across the board. There is a difference between a cleaning lady and a housekeeper. Housekeepers do more than just clean.

I’ve done this work myself and I recruit for UHNW Families. A House Manager is a role that includes scheduling/overseeing vendors like plumbers, manages/schedules housekeepers, does the grocery shopping, maintains household inventories, assists with event planning & set up, and more. Staffing agencies would define this role as either a housekeeper or a family assistant.

House Managers are not resetting the home and doing dishes, and they are usually making 6 figure salaries. This post is for a housekeeper or family assistant.
