What's that ? please tell me .
Yes, I was scratching my head over this—they are real neurons showing periodic bursting while I immobilized the tarsus. After searching the internet and AI models, I found several papers on insect electrophysiology using isolated leg preparations. Almost all of them recorded spikes when the barbs are touched. Most probably, what happened in this case was that a part of the thoracic ganglion accidentally remained in the isolated leg prep. It likely contained Central Pattern Generator (CPG) type cells (think of them like pacemaker cells for movement) firing spontaneously in a specific rhythm.
I built my own amplifier ("DeepFin") for myself. I wonder if high schools, colleges, or others would be interested in buying my device to introduce neuroscience and spike sorting (computational neuroscience) to students in a fun way. I also built an Arduino-based H-bridge biphasic stimulator that can be connected to the amplifier via a PC and Python-based spike sorting software. So, two different isolated legs can be connected to recording and stimulating electrodes separately—and when I touch one leg, the other leg kicks depending on how much I'm touching the first leg!
