Most of the people commenting have not read the article. By the end he's established that most of the extra work he's doing is optional private work and that he is being asked by the AI routines running in the background to check and provide input for that work. Which is where the extra work is coming from. He is not in any way saying that the AI is making his workload higher, other than in the optional ways in which he has decided to burden himself.

This is a person who likes AI.

He was only up in the air for about a second and he started from a lower than usual position from down in that ditch, so he fell from four or five feet. If he didn't run into anything on the ground he's probably mostly fine. Sliding doesn't hurt if you have gear on, it's the impacts that get you.

You seem to have confused my argument for your argument. My argument is that in the process of doing something impractical (going to the moon) they solved practical problems and we benefited from those solutions because they had practical applications outside of that endeavor. Similarly, studying fossils on Mars would not have any practical function but doing it would require solving practical problems that would have practical applications outside of that endeavor.

For this mockup to have any similar benefit they would have to solve problems and then those solutions would have to be applicable. Instead it's the other way around. They've taken the solutions they've developed for their rocket program and bolted it on a car body. So, no, this isn't anything like going to Mars or the moon or anything like it.

I hate it because it's a fakeass marketing stunt and I don't like phonies, in general. This will never be a real car and they will never develop anything during its production as a consequence of it never happening.

Do you really think there aren't smaller hotels out there not making a lot of money? The burden of regulation on smaller operators is always a legitimate concern.

That mockup that'll never be road legal isn't in any sense equivalent to the moon landing. I'm not sure anything is even particularly novel about it. The skirts and vacuum system arent particularly new, there are cars that suck themselves to the ground and also, like, race around a track. Not just demo on a stage in a controlled environment. I guess jamming air powered thrusters and attitude control into that form factor is but its barely novel at best.
