Thank you for the great example (I may have to actually build something similar to what you describe!)
Can see how if you were to build something similar using a bunch of dictionaries how this would become a lot more challenging to have them interconnect

Thank you! Yes that absolutely makes sense and I think I am experiencing what you are describing and when in “actual” codebases I see OOP way more frequently used so I almost attribute it to “actual”
Programming and what I write is much more basic

Did you do the problem sets? Have found these very useful in actually building things

CS50 is great! Also be sure to do the problem sets (I missed these until recently) they really cement the learning!

I did a similar change and starting learning at 30 after 10 years working in a more hardware repair role.
I would say it’s worth learning as it will open up many other career paths that just “software development” and with the increase in AI into everything knowing how to actually monitor the output and improve it is hugely valuable

I would say yes, I worked in a purely hardware repair job. Taught myself Python / Go via IBM DevOps and Google automation qualifications and was able to change job into something that isn’t a pure software dev job but still use the skills daily. Basic coding ability opens up much more than just dev roles in my experience (just my opinion but it’s a lot of fun as well!)

Thank you for taking the time to break it down like this.
It does make a lot more sense and silly to expect me to write a full page top to bottom. Will work on the planning breakdown first

Thanks, yeah I feel I’m reviewing AI code much more than writing and would like to remove the reliance a bit more

Current-Table9136

Thank you! I really like this as an idea

Thank you! I’d seen exercism will give it a go

Current-Table9136

Not sure if the offer is still there but I would be interested!!

Current-Table9136

Yeah I agree, I’ve got these currently mapped to keys that I would move for anyway. If I get used to home row mods a bit more I can start reducing further!

Yep it’s the Apple trackpad

Thanks for the tip! I’ve changed this layout a couple of times but now it’s more settled I’ll look into this

Do the 6 thumb cluster keys not count towards it?

Random question but can you remove both of the outside columns or will this completely break the boards matrix? Removed some keys and wondering if I can make this board a bit smaller? A massive thank you for this great keyboard!
