Some of those authors are probably being sensitive.
I read Haphne a ton, and it's rare I see mean comments on things. Or at least, about Haphne. You have the usual 'Why don't you do <fanon concept>' with the person thinking it's canon, but not the rest.
Cyfric_G
Oh yes.
I kind of skim over his comments 'cause it's always the same whining. I don't think her loss in the Festival hurt her much. Now, her time with Uwabami, that was bogus.
Cyfric_G
Momo makes the whole eight years insane, honestly.
Yes, 'she shouldn't mess with the economy' but making Izuku a suit wouldn't do that, and they had the plans for the All Might suit already. The whole eight year skip thing makes no sense.
Cyfric_G
To be fair, that boss is odd in that you can do it totally right and still wipe if you damage the boss too quickly even if you do focus on the adds and kill them. ;-)

In Harry Potts and the Infinity Stones (https://archiveofourown.org/works/36613714/chapters/91324741), things are very different indeed. It's a well-built crossover between Marvel and the Harry Potter series that makes sense. I love it to bits.
Cyfric_G
This. There's a vague comment he makes to female BH which implies he'd be quite willing to rape her given the chance. I was like: Wow, wanna airlock him.
Cyfric_G
UGH. I hate how so many fics ignore the fact that All Might CANNOT take away One For All. Izuku has to let him. The author usually just ignores it and goes on about how AM took OfA back, and so on.
Cyfric_G
I recall that fic. They were oh so put out because THEY had no privilege (laugh) and Izuku had All Might in his corner. They came across as entitled pricks. The author was really, REALLY obviously anti-Izuku.
Cyfric_G
I call that Waifu!Hunter Midoriya. He collects girls like Pokemon. I don't mind two or three girls in a poly relationship, whatever. But that makes me cringe.
Cyfric_G
I avoided him because he has a quirk that uses it. I was referencing people who didn't who would still use firearms.
Cyfric_G
Oh yes. People ignore that the show portrays things very differently, even with Bakugou's plot armor. Bakugou's shit is portrayed seriously. Mitsuki gets the humor track. It'd be like saying Generic Tsundere 90s Anime Girl is actually abusive, rather than rolling one's eyes at the cliche.
Cyfric_G
Yep. Bakugou attacks Izuku horribly, sometimes goes past that to actually maiming him. He gets...therapy. Gasp. Such consequences.
Cyfric_G
"Aizawa is a perfect human being, the best dad, and more! Oh, and All Might is a dick." I don't mind improving the honestly stupid way UA is ran, but don't buff Aizawa to bash All Might.
"If we expel Bakugou, he might become a villain! Gasp! We have to cater to him!" or "Yep, giving Bakugou therapy and ignoring his actions is totally severe consequences." Not.
"Ochako is a perfect human being and the perfect mate with Izuku. She's his TRUE WUV and even if he's dating these other girls, they're side pieces to the perfection that is IzuOcha!" Gag.
Cyfric_G
To be fair to him, with how violent the girls were? It made sense he'd avoid it.
Cyfric_G
This, yes. The genre shifted, but I would not say it fell apart, and I'd definitely not call the characters one dimensional. Hell, they're a lot more nuanced than Era 1 characters, Sanderson improved a lot.
Cyfric_G
Funny thing is the LN (not the shitty anime) version of Infinite Stratos implied this was what Ichika was pulling. I think this would be hilarious for a crack taken seriously version for MHA, as long as it had a happy ending.
Cyfric_G
Well, we see him burning his clothing and objects. I do think he likely burned Izuku. But not as a regular thing. But Bakugou isn't perfect, he made mistakes.
Cyfric_G
Yeah, I prefer this to the Yanagi reference above. If you're going to bring in the Addams Family, Wednesday all the way. ;-)
Cyfric_G
There's a fic where Harry is a half-devil. After James cheats on her, Lily cheats back with a woman who turns out to be ... Serafall Leviathan. It's kinda uber-smutty but has some fun stuff in it in spite of that. He is a Devil so uses Devil magic, but pretends to have a wand. Considering Devil magic is far more powerful even without using the magic circles, it's not hard.
It's called That's Not Wizard Magic, or something like that.
Cyfric_G
What goes against that is centaur arrows managed to kill and wound quite a few in the final battle at Hogwarts, and no, there's no 'super speshul enchanted arrows' mentioned.
As for the question, it's a trope. It can be fun, it's a subset of MuggleWank. WizardWank can be fun too. Just have to be done well and interestingly.
Cyfric_G
Hell, depending on if the author pushed the timeline up, it even fits Britain. According to Google anyway, since 2014, kids learn a second language nowadays in Britain from 7-14.
Cyfric_G
Seconding a prompt like this, though not the 'making fun of Harry'-esque stuff mentioned on some of the comments.
And huh, that's where it comes from? There's another fic or two with this premise in another fandom. I always wondered where it was from.
Cyfric_G
So Midoriya in this is Shinsou in canon. Got it. ;-)
Cyfric_G
From what I understand, that's a 'thing' in romance novels. I read about it from a writer who was doing a collaboration. The other author insisted that once the male love interest met the female, he was NOT allowed to interact with women in any sort of romantic sense or even ex-romantic sense. It was very strange.
I've always wanted a /completed/ Harry-is-adopted-by-the-Flamels fic. I've seen a few, but they always trail off after a while.
