Probably because Hamas had the best and closest access to them. Also there was a big push to frame the female soldiers as civilians. The soldiers being put in their uniforms was definitely an optics play and to remind the public/media that these women were actually soldiers and thus POWs.

It's been years of insane stories and visual evidence of gang grape of prisoners in idf prison sites. Lots of people enraged that the perpetrators would be jailed for those actions. Not much for the victims. We shall see what the idf women have to say shortly I imagine.
