Thing is, I can see how this would work in old looney tunes style.

The problem is there is too much detail.

Tweety could have pulled the bones out without the sticky viscera holding it to the walls coming with it

Sylvester could have not looked like he was bleeding in his eyes.

Just those 2 removals would lend towards the humorous slapstick rather than the ren and stimpy factor.. looney tunes violence works because they remove the grounding in reality not only in actions but in consequences

Wildhearts are pop culture totemic/animist worshipers but people can even express the characteristics of an animal without ever having seen one. Someone can inhabit the swiftness of a hawk or the steadfast power of a bear without the need for say hailing from a tribe of animists. You can just favor that as a fighting style and so are naturally aligned to that and further tapping into that mindstate comes with further mastery and breadth of abilities.

Zealots have a moment of ecstatic commune with their own god (easily and obviously a war god, skulls for the skull thrones etc) and are a chaotic version of paladin with their baby smite.

The world tree though is a very specific fantastical source and firmly plants itself into the cosmology of any DnD campaign which may or may not care for having a Norse expy attached. It isn't a god (or else it would be a zealot) and it has no will of its own besides growing as some sort of eldritch bridge in the space between realms (According to forgotten realm) so the ability to tap into it feels much more deliberate and narrow

Would you say then that someone ignorant of the concept of the world tree couldn't channel that power or have that power thrusted upon them?

as far as I know the tree has no will, derives no "nutrition" from the material plane as its roots are in the inbetween, nommed on by Nidhogg who is "just" a big dragon (though forgotten realms wiki sends you to Dendar with 0 explanation)

Interesting since it aligns with some plot ideas I had about exploring this backstory (Why this barbarian has world tree powers is part of the mystery) and something involving Nidhogg would make sense. But I was under the impression that Nidhogg is like one of those grand celestial constants that unless I want my scale of the plot to balloon into god killing isn't something I can easily thrust upon the player eg: "you are chosen to stop Nidhogg" especially because that's a real railroady (and derailing for the rest of the party) sort of goal.

but also I guess there are points of physical manifestation into the material realm by the World Tree that can be under threat and that anguish can be felt and resonate with others who eventually awaken to it in hopes of someone coming to help
