I have a good feeling that this is legit.

Everything looks clean - from the label on the front, to the board and the printed code on the back. I don’t see a single hint of anything being off at all.

It didn't do much apart from letting me access the BIOS, where I could improve the situation just enough to safely retrieve my data by turning off some AMD-related settings. But, thank you nonetheless!

I have swapped the RAM sticks around, and they seem to work alright. I'm really swaying towards a BIOS issue. I have a few spare USB sticks to try flashing a BIOS on. Thank you!

That bit has been there since I got the cartridge about a year before, whilst other games do not seem to get any worse.

Unfortunately, though, I do not own a flash cartridge... But knowing how expensive can the games get nowadays, I definitely should think of getting one.

I first joined back in August of 2015.

As for the first game... I sadly don't recall in detail. But alexnewtron's Dodgeball was among the first I played. It is a pity the game has died out, though.

I now fear for the actions I did out of stupidity, years ago.

You could try to use a bigger sized triwing screwdriver, and assist it by carefully putting a bit of glue inside the screw, inserting the screwdriver in, and giving it time to harden.
