About a declarative void

Danrobi1

I just added a 'no javascript' option to my forum

That's great!

With all the recommendations from the so-called experts, not a single one mentions disabling or stopping the use of JavaScript. Very sad. Instead they just pile on millions of layers of BS. Fuck JS!

Danrobi1

what makes it stand out from other Linux distros

iso-snapshot

I don't know why this software isn't ported to work on every linux OS

penguins-eggs The idea is that every system should have its own way of being remastered.

Danrobi1

I'm a minimalist X11 user

I run the Ratpoison WM + Conky-bar

Why? Here: ratpoison_conky-bar

once for unsaved buffers, and once for processes

(setopt confirm-kill-processes nil)

Danrobi1

Hi. I see there's an appimage for linux. Why I can't find any link to the repo?

Danrobi1

I have a script these days

Same here. KISS principle

Danrobi1

NetworkManager running too

You need to disable the wpa_supplicant service.

Cant have both.

Saw that your issue was fixed. that was probably the issue.

Danrobi1

Dired. File system directories inside Emacs.

No flakes no Home Manager just a single file: configuration.nix

Danrobi1

Yes, NixOS can be intimidating, but it’s worth the learning curve. LLMs can help you with that.

You can skip flakes and Home Manager and use a single file: configuration.nix

Have a look. It’s pretty straightforward. Once it’s configured, you just run: sudo nixos-rebuild switch

That’s it, done. You can pull your .config files from your repo. I only run one laptop here, so I keep a USB drive where I save all my files. But you get the gist.

There’s also antiX/MX Linux. They share the same snapshot tool. You create a snapshot ISO of the current system (you can include the entire /home if you want), then run live-usb-maker to burn that ISO to a USB. You’re done.

Both are Debian-based. Adrian, the snapshot maintainer, is also working on an Arch version here. It’s already working.

Explore, have fun.

Happy hacking!

New Edit:

I forgot to mention: Fedora image-builder (You edit a toml file. More straightforward than NixOS) and there's penguins-eggs the remastering tool

I have this snippet in a script:

# --- Privileged operations (single sudo session) ---------------------------
echo "Running privileged operations..."
sudo bash -c '
# Unbind ACPI lid switch to prevent suspend on lid close
if [ -e "/sys/bus/acpi/drivers/button/PNP0C0D:00" ]; then
     echo "PNP0C0D:00" > /sys/bus/acpi/drivers/button/unbind && \
echo "Lid switch unbound successfully." || \
echo "Failed to unbind lid switch." >&2
else
echo "Lid switch already unbound or not present."
