i figured it out on my second watch- literally put two and two together. I wish my theory got more upvotes :(

while there is definitely abuse, and child abuse at that, i think it is important to seperate it from sexual abuse. because the abuse is not sexual in nature and labeling it as such is harmful, but yes child abuse i defintely agree

i am willing to bet my life on holly casting a "dimension door" to connect the upside down to where tf max and holly are. this is based on three things-

1. holly dresses up as "holly the heroic" when shes in vecnas house. when mike gives her the dnd figure, he says she can cast a dimension door and i am pretty sure she is going to figure out a way to do this.

2. in one of the trailers there is a door- just a door - we have yet to see this door.

3. based on what you said- when dustin is figuring out the fact that the the wall is a circle- steve says something along the lines of " how does this help us, can you find us a door or something instead" (cant remember the exact quote)

but this is my leading theory.

I graduated during covid and unfortunately never got to say goodbye to a lot of people I loved, places I loved and more. what makes the song so sad is that I'll always dream that we were all together when we graduated, but unfortunately, never in my lifetime will I get to graduate high school ever again.
