Farm subsidies can be socialism, it can also be way to help political allies. Eg dairy is a collective in canada that helps quebec.

"Public health care" is a wide spectrum, so is "universal basic income". We are currently in era in Canada, USA, etc where the most likely result will be a bankruptcy and a government that can't pay for "social programs", that keep growing in cost/share of total government spending.

Eg USA is 40 trillion in debt. In 2008 Obama said 4 trillion extra debt in 8 years was "irresponsible". Obama won filibuster proof majority after, and doubled the extra debt per year. Trump, Biden, Trump, etc... similar story, USA fed is now 40 trillion in debt, earning 5.3 trillion but spending 7 trillion a year.

Its simple math, the USA federal government spends 1.9 trillion on medicare right now per year for even the "limited" public version (when only having 5.3 trillion income, and a massive debt that simple math shows will gobble up much of the rest). The whole thing is going to implode, like greece 2008. Obama didn't fix it when he had the power, he made it worse, a faster race to bankruptcy.

You get inflation, possibly hyperinflation and every one poorer faster with current targets for "health care" and "UBI" by common left wing advocates, venezuela and zimbabwe went downhill, seattle, washington is bleeding. You;d have to do things different than just spend more and tax more for more Obamacare. UBI gives big incentive for a healthy young person to not work at all for entire life, to just find a cheap piece of a farm far away like a monk and grow a bit of food and take "income" from US government while not producing anything back to compensate for entire life... which can lead to government failure/anarchy/no one gets free money.

In canada there is a class of people called "native americans" who get a form of UBI, and it gets wasted on things like drugs, alcohol. Car dealerships are often nearby indian reservations because "buy a car and wreck it" with free money. Housing free from governement is often trashed. People often don't value free stuff they get, that includes children of rich people.

How do you expect to do so?

If health really mattered we would get rid of preservatives like nitrates in processed food, freeze food instead of expecting something like ham to last in fridge for week, reduce sugar, etc. (preservatives also kill good bacteria in digestive system which lets more trouble leak through into bloodstream)

Regulations can also add to price.

Maybe you add more inspectors, currently seems to be about once a year that inspector comes to small food processing place I sometimes work for, we always pass, you can see inspector come in so if someone was not following rules, eg not washing hands properly they won't cheat while they see inspector is there.

You put more regulations and testing and you also raise prices and wipe out more smaller companies making it fewer/bigger companies doing everything which can also lead to health problems. Eg when farms get bigger and bigger because smaller farms can't keep up with all the paperwork, disease outbreaks spread easier.

I do a bit of private farming... its harder for me to try to sell food I would make because I would have to do all sorts of paperwork, eg herd of 50 sheep I would need to track where every sheep was every day. That is harder than if you have herd of 1000 sheep in large pastures (less paperwork per head of sheep), but those 1000 sheep are more likely to have disease outbreaks.

Making food in canada like sauces, already have to track every input by lot number, etc, track exactly where every output sauce got sold to, so some smaller sauce makers simply quit producing in canada because too much paperwork a day.

Add lots of extra regulation you add more work to the smaller guys so they quit and only the larger guys are left who only buy from other larger guys and because things are so scaled up, a disease can spread much worse... eg you have 1000 people in same job covid 19spreads much easier than only 10, same goes for diseases that can accidently slip into food... we wash hands with soap for 30 seconds like in hospital, often wear gloves, etc, but its not perfection, and big or small some people in low pay industry in big company might not follow rules.

A scientist is more likely to get future funding if finds negatives about "climate change" than positives. Eg polar bear and caribou in trouble verses 100x the mammals having population boom because arctic is warmer. (How do we have polar bears now when we know arctic was much warmer thousands of years ago and they are doomed by climate change?)

Or climate change will lead to extreme weather when weather is driven by a difference in temperature and polar regions are warming the fastest.

I know of case where house sat empty because risk of "tenants rights" to potential landlord, not worth the risk. Property taxes are often going up much faster than inflation, and landlords have mortgage rates that can climb and in Canada capital gains tax isn't indexed to inflation so even if after inflation value of house isn't up, could be extreme income tax hit if years of high inflation.

Since you started in anime section, you might find manga/Manhwa "easier" than light novels... Manhwa tend to be full colored comics so prettier than manga, you can look for higher rated ones, reddit has sections that discuss them, and sites like mangadex and webtoons have lots of user ratings.

My current favorite manga of fantasy adventure type is "surviving the game as a barbarian" usually get one update a week, good looking color comic, with a more compelling plot. Also has light novel that is well liked and much further according to fans on reddit.

I am going to come out of the closet now, with my gender reveal. I was born a man but identify as a unicorn after watching the last unicorn movie.
