Sorry for taking so long to get back to you, but for London you might want to have a look at events run by Dave Exile (his Invocation is on in a couple of weeks) and Martin OldGoth if you want some proper goff. I've been at a few nights where Dave's DJ'd and he's fantastic, and Martin is one of the nicest guys I've ever met, who takes no prisoners where music is concerned- his club nights feel like the best bits of the 90s, with a load of new stuff that fits the mood but with none of the shite. The music's still out there, you just need to hunt it out a bit!

Ach sorry mate, it gets a bit hard to tell at times! In fairness it's much better nowadays than it was back in the early 2000s. At least there are now a good few club nights that play what I see as 'proper' goth music kicking around- they just tend to be monthly or bi-monthly. Whereabouts are you based, if you don't mind my asking?

I recognise your username from some of the UK subs, I think? There are plenty of us who aren't into that stuff, mate (or was this a slightly odd trolling attempt?)

Oh you're right- I loved that game! I saw a couple of years ago that it had been patched up by the fanbase to fix a load of bugs and add extra content. I should really dig the box out at some point and give it another go.

The New Flesh - The Absurd. No videos yet so a direct Bandcamp link. Good stuff, this, and it's a "name your price" album to boot. Oh, just found a live set here.

Esben and the Witch - Blood Teachings. Weird as ever- they're not a goth band but 'A New Nature', their latest album, has been a definite grower for me. Check it out here at their Bandcamp page.

I had no idea that thing was still running. I've only had a look a few times over the years but it always seemed to have a very young user base, with few people who ever actually went to gigs/clubs/festivals/outside. No thanks.

Like this example I wonder if cybergoth is what is needed for the goth culture to survive, the culture has to change a bit.

Heh, people were saying that back in the late 90s when the cyber thing started getting big. You're hardly a new phenomenon!

I've made my feelings on cyber etc. pretty clear in the past- it's not for me and I've never understood why people seem to prefer linking it to goth rather than EBM or Industrial. That said, it doesn't 'bother' me that people are into it- I just find it a bit weird but I suppose that's par for the course!

Bit late to the party as I've been offline for a few days, but you probably want to have a look at Now This Is Gothic N.B.- occasionally NSFW, which is easily one of the best collections of of goth and post-punk photos on the web. Shouldn't be too hard to find some inspiration in that lot!
