While their criticism could use some work (it's not very constructive, since they didn't offer advice nor say what *did* work), people don't need to specifically ask for criticism to receive it. Once you publish something for others to see, they're free to give their input. Whatever you do with that input is up to you, either listen and learn from it (if you think it applies), or just ignore it (if you think it doesn't).

I'm not saying you should have listened to them (because I feel they missed the point of your comic in the first place), but they were valid in offering their own opinion, even if it was unprompted.

She's not a bad person for voicing her dissatisfaction/concerns/worries, and at least she worded everything in the comic as "I think he's X" rather than "he's X" (which puts the emphasis more on her view of him rather than his personal qualities). If this had been a vent post on r/GirlDinnerDiaries, I doubt many people would have cared. Yeah, sometimes relationships suck, and it sucks to be in them, and it sucks to be aware of how much they suck but not knowing what to do.

However, people are justified in calling out just how toxic this sounds. He has a lot of expectations in him, while she herself admits she doesn't offer much. And yet, she continues making him out to be the bad guy. Again, this is HER perception, she doesn't claim this to be objective. But since this is only her perception, people are allowed to point out the double standards, because she might not be able to see them herself. So if commenters are going "From the way you make it sound, you should just break up for the sake of both of you", it should be a wake-up call for her.

I think it's also worth mentioning that this is only her side of the story, and we don't know how her boyfriend sees her. While I'm empathetic towards her struggles, I can't fully take her side. There are plenty of people that will downplay their own shortcomings, which happens all too often on Reddit. It's likely he's struggling with the relationship in a similar manner, and doesn't just "lub his girlfriemb". Depicting him as a chuddy little chud chud also feels very demeaning and further muddles her point. If this was just her venting her personal frustrations, then portraying him as an asocial loser makes it feel more like punching down.

I don't think this relationship (if it's even real and not just a fictitious story) is a healthy one. I'm not sure it can be fixed by a dialogue between the two. It seems more like she's projecting her own flaws onto him just so she doesn't need to deal with him. These are deeper issues that are going to ruin even the best of relationships if they're not tackled.

Half the comics on this sub are just lukewarm jokes or ideas with a porn panel as a bonus to lure people to their Patreon.
