You can use the energy of the star more efficiently, sure, but at some point you need to radiate the heat away if you don't want to heat up. The problem for a """realistic""" Coruscant is how much heat you need to get rid of.

DelayedChoice

Oh some of them go waaaaay the other way.

DelayedChoice

The laws of thermodynamics cause fundamental problems with that idea.

And that's fine if your setting is something like Star Wars, it just has problems if you are talking about something more "practical and realistic" without introducing more scifi technobabble.

DelayedChoice

Two of the big problems I see are that (a) the Tatooine section is too self-contained narratively and exists to just rescue Han and (b) Han (and to a lesser extent Leia) have nothing to do after Tatooine.

For the first I'd make Luke and co find out some important intel regarding the Death Star while at Jabba's. The exact specifics aren't important (Leia or 3PO can overhear Jabba talking about something) and they don't have to find out the whole thing (the Bothans can die finding stuff out so the universe doesn't feel too small) but it'd help things link up.

As for the latter I think Leia's easier to solve: just do a bit more with her and the Ewoks, building on what we see with Wicket to begin with. In ANH she's a prisoner, in ESB her scenes and arc are focused on her relationship with Han, and so here it'd be good to emphasise her as a leader and a diplomat.

Not really sure what to do with Han though.

Beyond that the movie just looks worse than Empire, at least in terms of the cinematography and editing. That's harder to be specific about (and isn't the kind of thing you could fix with reshoots) but it does hurt the film.

Basically everything you've posted makes it seem like this doesn't come from any genuine concern about the people Faraci hurt but because you want to get back at people who annoy you on the internet.

DelayedChoice

Saying stupid stuff like "the guy you worship" makes it very clear you are trying to stir shit up.

DelayedChoice

the guy you worship

lol okay mate

Episode 1 has plenty of location work and some extensive sets and it's not like the acting improves in those sections.

Greenscreen acting can be harder but actors tend to talk more about the challenges of interacting with CGI characters. It's part of why Ahmed Best was on set with a funny Jar Jar hat on during filming.

They’ve been stagnant for a decade and a half now.

I agree that you can't read anything into those minor poll fluctuations but it's similarly incorrect to make statements like that simply by picking an outlier as a starting point.

I could make an equally fallacious argument the other way by picking 2007 as a baseline and saying that the Greens have gone from 8% to 12% over the last two decades (or gone for 2013 if I want something more recent).

DelayedChoice

There isn't much to spoil. One episode very late in the show's run (The Lost Ones, s6e11) touches on it a bit but it really just fills in a few details while leaving the important questions open.

DelayedChoice

I will believe the movie exists when cameras roll and not before.

Maarva has the same set of coffee cups as my parents.

DelayedChoice

That's the plan I believe.

If nothing else they would run out of books too quickly if they kept it up at this pace.

DelayedChoice

Yeah that's the idea.

I think Lucas could have made Anakin a few years older (eg cast a 13 year old who can play an 11 year old) but it heightens the tragedy to have him start out as an innocent kid.

DelayedChoice

Hillary and others

Just Hillary really, the other, much earlier cases had bigger issues than the electoral college.

DelayedChoice

It's a good quote but it's 6 years old so he didn't "just" do it.

DelayedChoice

Also you can see Luthen's theatricality on full display.

DelayedChoice

When has conservative comedians been funny or successful

Funny? Yeah that's hard.

Sadly successful isn't.

DelayedChoice

It's worth noting that the idea that the Clone Wars, the rise of Palpatine, and the fall of Anakin weren't all closely linked into the one set of events until the prequels.

In particular it was generally held that the Anakin's fall was a slower thing and that he operated as a Jedi killer for Palpatine in secret for some time before his confrontation with Obi-Wan.

DelayedChoice

I'm so used to doing that that I have to correct the other way because I forget that, say, Paris to Berlin is comparable to Sydney to Melbourne which isn't nothing.

DelayedChoice

While the poll suggests the Coalition will likely not need the support of One Nation to form government, 28 per cent said they would prefer a Liberal-Nationals-One Nation arrangement compared with just 19 per cent favouring Labor governing alone. A Liberal-Nationals majority government attracted 28 per cent support, while a Labor-Green government was preferred by 25 per cent.

It doesn't show how people rank the options (eg I assume virtually everyone who wanted a Labor-Green government would still prefer a Labor majority over the other options) but I don't think it's an unreasonable claim to make based on the data.

DelayedChoice

They tried it with Bucky first and that also failed miserably.

Not sure what you mean.

Bucky was never meant to be a permanent replacement and Brubaker's run is widely regarded as excellent.

DelayedChoice

Batman Beyond the White Knight.

The White Knight/Murphyverse books are their own thing.

DelayedChoice

There is at least (per Yoda) one lightsaber-induced Padawan death ("Killed not by clones, this padawan. By a lightsaber he was.") which is obviously implied to be Anakin's saber - but there's not exactly a ballistics matcdh so for all we know it might've been friendly fire when Vader tried to non-lethally KO a pair of Padawan by chucking them into each other or something.

I now want to see the entirety of Order 66 where it's just increasingly convoluted accidental deaths.

DelayedChoice

Yeah. It's more from Book 7 with a few bits from 6 (Harkness, the funeral, a few deaths) mixed in, though some aspects draw from both (eg Reese).
