I’m not saying that it was built specifically to fix my self esteem. I’m saying that I now appreciate real human art that I myself made a lot more. If I could snap my fingers and make AI go away, I’d do it in an instant, regardless of my self esteem. I was making a point about unintended consequences and appreciation for reality, not supporting AI with selfish intentions.

Dude I was an English major and I make ridiculous mistakes all the time #Englishsolidarity

This is an extremely abusive situation. I’d recommend contacting a well-known (nationally) journalist to expose this whole charade. Going through other channels might tip him off. Try to document as much as you safely can, and maybe keep a daily journal of your own experiences (Notes App, Google Docs, etc.)

*bawl
And same.

Update: I am sitting in the theater and it starts in 10 minutes! Super excited!

Radium is a better comparison. Radium appeared as a wonderful miracle product for many things, but the risks were underestimated and even willfully ignored by companies using radium in their products. It’s something we didn’t ask for, but people are riding the high of this new “miraculous” technology. Many are likely going to realize in a few years just how terrible AI is on an individual level and global level. We’re killing our own brains (just as the radium girls destroyed their mouths and jaws by licking paintbrushes) and only some of us have realized that thus far.

AI has made me appreciate reality a whole lot more. Before generative AI, I would get so down about how imperfect my art pieces were. Now, I see the imperfections make it beautifully human, and I am proud to have made anything at all.

Still want to ban AI.

I’m going to see this as many times as I can

Maleficent does not fit here; it’s not a remake. It’s an alternate take on a common story from a different character’s perspective.

The others contribute nothing good to their stories. A “remake” has to justify its existence and none of them have successfully done that.

Edit: I haven’t seen that Cinderella, so my criticism isn’t targeted at that film.

Not the child’s fault. That mother is extremely irresponsible for leaving a 3 year old home alone.

Delicious-Valuable96

I’m also 22, and my mom sends me a good morning text most days. It warms my heart every time.

Delicious-Valuable96

This is not a good setup. Here’s what I’d recommend. Get a big cat litter box (should be big enough for them both to sit in). Line it with a 33 gal unscented trash bag, put a layer of paper bedding at the bottom, and then fill with hay. Add a few handfuls of hay every day until you’re ready to take it to the trash. I change each of my litter boxes out every 3 days. Not only will this be safer and cleaner, it’s relatively cheap in the long run… especially if you buy the trash bags in bulk.

Omg Rumple would be so cuteeee

I have degrees in History and English and have written multiple essays on the significance of this series. This is my hobby, which is why I’m so passionate about it. Maybe instead of insulting me, consider my argument and rebut it like an adult.

Delicious-Valuable96

I’m not trying to be liked, and your unwarranted personal attacks on me prove your own immaturity. I feel like everyone on this sub is a freakin child with no concept of symbolism. I can “sound like” whatever, but at least I’m an educated critical thinker who actually understands the significance of this series.

Delicious-Valuable96

Sorry you think I’m a weirdo. I have degrees in History and English and wrote multiple essays in college about the significance of this series. I may be weird, but I know what I’m talking about

Delicious-Valuable96

Exactly. How very Capitol of them.

Delicious-Valuable96

For everyone downvoting me, please remember that The Hunger Games is not some YA romance dystopian series. It’s a dystopian satire of modern capitalism and a direct criticism of the U.S. corpratocracy. Absurd that none of you have realized that yet.

Delicious-Valuable96

Because the wedding dress is literally the worst dress she could’ve chosen. It’s a symbol of the Capitol’s control and standards ruining Katniss’ life. She should’ve worn the Mockingjay variant. This is just insanely insulting to the series, and it’s even worse that people are calling this bullshit “iconic.” It’s not iconic. It’s insulting.

Delicious-Valuable96

Because it’s not a “fun” dress. Mockingjay would be a “fun” dress. This is a tone deaf display of Capitol standards. That is why I am so disgusted.

Delicious-Valuable96

I disagree. She decided to wear the wedding dress, an obvious symbol of the Capitol’s control on Katniss and their imposing their will on her, ruining her life. She should have worn the Mockingjay variant, seeing as how that is a statement against oppression. I am disgusted by everyone who cannot seem to realize how much of a slap in the face this is to the series. Stupid Hollywood falling into Capitol standards doesn’t surprise me… but everyone’s reaction makes me realize just how few people actually understand the meaning of The Hunger Games series.

Delicious-Valuable96

Preach (pun intended)

Delicious-Valuable96

You did everything right in my opinion

Delicious-Valuable96

That we’re not a different species and are actually human beings who should be treated as such.

Delicious-Valuable96

First things first… you are not doing your best. You’re trying everything you can to do your best, but it is impossible when you are burnt out. You’re not learning right now, and your professors might be sympathetic if you talk to them and explain it that way.

Your first priority right now should be your health so that you can get back to being able to do your best. For the next week, I want to challenge you to a new homework assignment: sleep at least 7 hours every night and eat 3 meals per day. I know it’ll be hard, but your body and brain need it. Even if you have to half-ass or half-do an assignment. A few small hits to your grade will be much better than an enormous crash out later in the semester.
